Stayed in the new privilege rooms and the decor is excellent with the bathrooms being extra special. All staff were all taking Covid safety steps and feel very well looked after by the team in Cardiff.

Attentiveness lacking during a difficult lockdown

I am a platinum card holder and I am very proud of staying in your Ibis in Elstree & Borehamwood with an incredible team who go out of there way every day to ensure you are safe and welcome. My father in law died in an accident and my husband had to stay in Cardiff to attend his funeral last Thursday. I wrote on the special instructions that this was a funeral. On arrival the un-attentive reception male was curt, uncaring and would not allow my husband to check-in without written proof of a funeral taking place. Nothing on your website said you needed this and I had no call to say we needed to bring documentation (although I had told you). We had to get the funeral directors to gain permission to send a letter. Room was 2 beds put together, lifts did not work and breakfast was fit for a child. Whilst these times are difficult, I do not understand after years of coming here that you have let your guard down and allowed complacency to creep in just as guests need your hospitality.

For the discounted price paid, this was very good. POSITIVES: Staff smartly dressed, helpful, right in the City Centre. Large room (had corner room), with good size comfy bed. New bathroom with bath and shower. Room very clean. Air Con worked well (heat and cold air). NEGATIVES: Busy underground car park, was full 1 night, although Manager resolved and made room (which was good service). If the hotel had been full, then would not have had parking, and area full of residents parking, or short stay spaces. Hotel room could do with modernising, old dark wood wardrobes etc, paint was new, but adding pictures on the wall would help. Chaning rooms & Pool: Good size pool, but no timers for anything, so with social distancing could not use everything. Changing rooms reasonably clean, but lockers needing new locks, as many did not work. Had asked for Ground Floor room, but got 8th floor! Overall, very good, as the price was reasonable, but had it been full price, then I'd not be giving such a good review. I think modernising the room and changing area would help a lot. Not sure if extra land for parking maybe too as parking is charged.

disappointing trip, on check in we found that the bar and restaurant were not open - only at weekends - there was nothing on the web site about this. Had to ask on second day to have room serviced. no do not disturb signs can they not be wiped with over ?

Decor is lovely ,room lovely spacious .clean .breakfast was very poor ,cold not a lot off selection .staff not very helpful .had very lovely massage ,but dressing gowns had seen better days not whit .yellow and very thread bare ,had to stand on Main Street to smoke ,no garden area to smoke in ,not one single window opened in room

Very dated with poor service

The worst stay I’ve ever had in Cardiff. Decided to stay here to use the pool facilities and liked the idea of room service after a long day. On the first night we ordered room service and it arrived after ringing 4 times to check it was still coming (2hrs later it arrives). After that night we ordered on 5 different w over the weekend and nothing ever arrived which left us very annoyed. The tv in the room didn’t work past the first 3 channels. The sheets on of the single beds had mud on it. Due to Covid that meant I had to make my bed myself. All in all for the money spent, terrible. The breakfast is definitely the most disappointing, we paid for breakfast for 3 days and the only hot options were bacon or sausage baguettes and one morning there was no bacon left. Shambles!

Nice to have the upgrade on the room but the heater was on full blast when I arrived in the room and initially wouldn't even turn off. Eventually I got it to switch off and when re tried programming it gave up as it seemed to have two setting on full blast or off

This is thew second I have check-in online with a Mercure hotel only to find that despite confirmation of check-in, the reservation hasn't gone through to the hotel. This time it meant having notified the hotel I would be arriving in the early hours of the morning, the room reservation was cancelled. Luckily the night manager sorted something out but very poor from Accor

A walk into the centre of town, with its restaurants, shops and other attractions, but not too far to be inconvenient for someone with mobility problems. Rooms are reasonable: the bathroom was a bit small and oddly laid out but perfectly functionable, the lights were either all on or off, which was a little inconvenient but acceptable, and the air con seemed not too effective. In all not too bad at all, suiting our needs without being really cosy and relaxing. Breakfasts were good, one can always find fault here, in most hotels, but I couldn't really complain. Evening meals too were good, we enjoyed ours and couldn't find room for a dessert. Wines were a bit diappointing, slightly overpriced for what they were in my opinion, but that is a matter of taste. Staff were, with the exception of our room cleaner who we met once, polite, efficient and pleasant. We stay here of preference when we visit Cardiff, and would have no qualms about returning in future.

Great hotel, well located for city center

Reaaly comfortable hotel, very close to city center (5 mins walk). Has a car park, though a little cramped. Good facilities, though we were unable to enjoy as had cold when we visited. Food was good, with good choice, and service was very good. Rooms clean and tidy, and quite spaciouse.

We have stayed at the Holland House several times and thoroughly enjoyed each visit ( except one when the hotel appeared to be full of noisy Hen Parties! ) and our last visit was no exception. The Prestige room was lovely and spotless and, as always the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Gym is tired and the locker situation in both the male and female changing room is farcical. It needs serious investment. Waitress banging plates and tidying up whilst eating breakfast was extremely annoying. Great location though. Lovely rooms. Good value for money.

Stayed at Holland House on 24th & 25th December 2019 with family to celebrate Christmas. Was a little let down due to the cleanliness of the rooms (both rooms were superior double rooms). Marks/Stains on the doors and fixtures. Also stained carpets. In my opinion, the hotel needs a renovation to bring up to date. Staff and service was wonderful!

There are 10-5 stairs that one needs to clim before you arrive at the reception, given the fact that this is hotel and people will arrive with Suitcases there is no lift / ramp, Hotel Management is advised to have this taken care off ASAP.

Disappointing and over priced, but good location

Whilst a pleasant hotel, the sound proofing in the rooms was poor, the pillows were like rocks, the car park minute, which you pay form on arrival then get told you may not have a space when you come back. Shower barely warm and low water pressure. Nice location

Wonderful Stay

My stay was blissful. Maria on check-in was great, plenty of character there. Spa was great. Rooms well kept, slightly cold (715) but otherwise lovely. Bar staff really nice and welcoming. Restaurant has wonderful food
