The hotel’s location is convenient, but the entrance and lobby are confusing for first-time guests. The building sits back from the road, making it unclear where to stop to unload luggage. We arrived at 9 pm and, despite limited staff presence, no one attended to our luggage. I had to unload everything myself, with just one receptionist on duty who was less than welcoming. It was evident the hotel is understaffed. The breakfast experience was also disappointing. The spread was mediocre, and only two staff members were available to handle everything—from seating guests to making eggs and barista coffee. If you want a Flat White, you’ll need to pay extra; otherwise, you’re limited to the standard coffee dispenser. Our stay at Novotel Queenstown had set a much better standard. The room was also underwhelming. The mattress was uncomfortable, making it hard to sleep in one spot, and the bed seemed hastily made. The sink was small, leaving little space for toiletries. Overall, our experience was not up to the expected standard given the price, and we won’t be returning.

The hotel is very centrally location, with lots of restaurants on,y a short walk away. The room was ok. We had issues with the a/c, which only got sorted on day three. The reception staff couldn’t have been nicer. Some unfortunate stains (tea and/or coffee) should be taken care off.

The hotel is very centrally located in the city. Easy to walk around. Ashanti at reception was extremely helpful. She arranged a nice room for us and gave us a few “must see” things to do and places to see. The room was a decent size because we had booked a superior king room. However despite booking almost 6 months in advance we were assigned a room on the lower floors just above the conference hall. The rooms are not completely sound proof so the first night we got a whole lot of noise, late at night from below, as they moved furniture around. It disrupted our sleep. We reported it to front desk who gave us the explanation above. The toilet in our room was leaking. The restaurant service was ok. Breakfast offered everything you would expect except the first day they had a group staying and so we hardly got any service and the second day the toasters weren’t working. We saw the dinner menu on line but when we got to the restaurant, the items we wanted were not on the menu. Apparently the menu has been changed but not updated on the website. It was very kind of the hotel To acknowledge my partners birthday which we were there to celebrate.

A super comfortable hotel in the heart of the city, opposite the Cathedral and an easy walk to cafes and shops

This is a modern, very comfortable hotel in the absolute heart of the city, opposite the Cathedral, next to the newly rebuilt Convention Centre, the Tramcar Stop, and a short walk to the major shopping centres. We booked an Executive room and found ourselves with an excellent view over the city as the Executive rooms are housed on the top three floors of the building (we were on the 12th floor). The executive rooms are provided with a mini fridge containing complimentary drinks (two cans of beer, three cans of soft drink and two bottles of mineral water) along with a plentiful supply of individual milk portion containers. All of this was replenished each day. The other mini bar under the desk contained snacks: a small bag each of potato chips, corn chips, salted peanuts, two chocolate bars and a large chocolate chip cookie. Likewise, all of these items were replenished daily (though we didn't actually eat of all it each day!). The room itself was clean and very comfortable, the bathroom containing shower and toilet. The handbasin and mirror was located just outside the sliding door to the bathroom - some reviewers have found this odd, but it suits us very well as one person can be using the hand basin (to fill the kettle with water to boil for coffee) if the actual bathroom is occupied. Water pressure was excellent. Breakfast each morning was located in the first floor restaurant and up to the usual high standards of Accor Group hot breakfasts. All of the hotel staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, helpful. Thank you! PS this hotel will be within a couple of blocks' walk to the new Stadium currently being built, which can fit 34,000 people and fitted with a roof.
