It was a lovely hotel to stay in however the air conditioning unit in our room was that noisy that it kept all of us awake all night. Not very helpful when we already had a very early start to catch a flight. Apart from that was a nice hotel with great views over the runway from the bar and restaurant.

We arrived at 10.50pm so booked a hotel just outside the airport. Very convenient. The room is modern, clean. Bathroom can be slightly bigger but still big enough. Breakfast buffet was good quality. But one young lady staff was impatient. Maybe she was just too busy.

Situated right next to the terminal, Novotel Christchurch Airport is a plane spotter's dream. The bar and restaurant on level 6 offer stunning views, and my room also had fantastic views of the airport action. ✈️ The room was well-appointed, fresh, and comfortable, making for a relaxing stay. 🛏️ It's an ideal spot if you have an early flight, with the terminal just steps away. 🕔 Watching the action from the comfort of my room whiled away the time until I too was boarding my flight.

We booked this hotel on the basis that most people probably use - it is literally AT Christchurch Airport. What we did not expect was the level of luxury we found there on our last night in New Zealand. For some reason (we did not seek it out) we were given an accessible room on the fifth floor of six. This gave us a large accessible bathroom (which we really didn't need and the shower was a bit weird for us) but also a very large room with a big comfortable king size bed and (okay confession - ONE of us is a airplane geek) unbeatable views of the action on the taxiways and runways of CHC airport. We also used the restaurant/bar on the top floor and the cuisine was just excellent - far beyond what I would have expected for an airport hotel. We toasted our wonderful NZ holiday with some lovely NZ red wine and hit the hay for our less wonderful 4 am alarm clock for our 6:15 am flight to Sydney. Top marks to the Novotel Christchurch Airport - comfortable, great food, completely soundproof, and a five minute stroll under cover to the terminal.

We booked the Novotel primarily for the convenience it offered given our need to use a very early morning flight to Auckland . The hotel is only a short distance from departures - potentially a 5 min walk. Having had a very pleasant experience of the Novotel in Auckland, we were expecting the same in Christchurch, and indeed we not disappointed - a very nice room on the fourth floor with a view of the runway. No noise whatsoever, and the restaurant was also of a high standard. Throw in some lovely staff and it met our expectations perfectly. Note: Not the fault of the hotel, but building works have recently started at the airport, so the 5 min walk to departures felt as though we were walking to Auckland. So be warned….. no obvious timetable for completion of the works….and much of the walk in not under cover should the weather be inclement (luckily it was dry for our yomp!)
