We wanted to explore Cardiff and chose the Novotel based on a good room price and car park price being less than others in the area. I was aware that paying less that it was going to be slightly further out of the centre than others but this really wasn’t an issue. We could walk to the centre within about 10 minutes and could be at the quay or castle within a 20 minute stroll. The hotel room was clean and spacious and check in and out was very easy. A perfect spot and stay for exploring Cardiff at a reasonable price..

The cocktail shots I tried offered an exciting burst of flavors, each sip crafted to create a unique and memorable experience. The presentation was visually impressive, with vibrant colors and creative garnishes that immediately captured my attention. Each shot delivered a distinct flavor profile, ranging from sweet and fruity to strong and slightly bitter, ensuring there was something for every palate. The standout for me was the tropical-inspired shot, which balanced fresh pineapple and coconut flavors with a subtle kick of rum—refreshing and perfectly smooth. On the other end of the spectrum, the coffee-infused shot provided a rich, bold hit, with notes of espresso and a warming undertone of liqueur, perfect for coffee lovers. The layering technique used in some of the shots also deserves praise, as it demonstrated real skill and made the experience feel elevated. While a few were a bit strong for my taste, they still delivered on quality and creativity. The variety kept things fun, and it was clear that care and thought went into crafting these mini-cocktail masterpieces. If you’re looking for a way to sample diverse flavors in small, punchy portions, these cocktail shots are definitely worth trying.

Unfortunately we encountered several issues with our room on this stay. On our arrival on 29/11 we were warmly welcomed and given our room key for room 308, a superior room which I had booked for our long weekend away - being 7 months pregnant the addition of the extra space and fridge was my rationale for paying the additional fee for this room. We firstly noted that the room appeared quite tired, the carpet is stained in several places and also wearing - we are aware the hotel are refurbishing some of their rooms so put this down to the fact that they have yet to get to this room. We noted that the room was quite warm, a small window with glass protector was opened but did not yield much air, we turned the thermostat down and the fan up and went out for the evening as we had planned, on return we noted the room remained warm but we had had a busy day and put this down to tiredness and travelling. We both had a poor first nights sleep. On the second day we were again up and out all day having booked brunch and activities throughout the day and on our return our room was even warmer than we had noted that morning - it was uncomfortable and my partner spoke to the front desk who provided us with a fan, unfortunately all this did was blow warm air around the room throughout the night and we had little to no sleep. We discussed this with reception the following morning who advised they would arrange for maintenance to review the thermostat and fans, we were initially informed they were busy in the kitchen, we did advise that we were so uncomfortable in our room that we had come downstairs to get a cup of tea - we paid for this and there was no offer of refreshment whilst we waited for maintenance despite this being provided in the room, which we could not use - there did not feel that there was much urgency for this to be addressed and we had to re ask a couple of times before the maintenance team were able to come and review. The gentleman confirmed, as we thought, that the thermostat and fan was not working. He recommended we be moved rooms and my partner organised this with the front desk, we were moved into a smaller room 336 (as there were no superior rooms available) which does not have the additional amenities which we had paid for to make my stay more comfortable - it was however cooler with a working thermostat which we noted is a new version and electronic whereas in the more expensive superior room this was manual and not functioning. At this point there was no offer from the reception desk about the adjustment in cost for the final night given the change of room and circumstances. I appreciate they are busy and assumed this would be addressed by management. I therefore emailed the hotel outlining the above issues, asking them if they would kindly look into this, specifically in regards to the room rates that we had paid over the weekend taking into account the poor first nights sleep and the almost no sleep on the second night due to malfunctioning equipment in the room and then smaller/cheaper room on the third night. We had a lovely trip to Cardiff which was unfortunately let down by the hotel room. Despite this being over two weeks ago and a follow up email sent by myself, I have not heard anything back from the hotel which I find really disappointing. We would not stay in another Novotel for these reasons, we appreciate that things can go wrong but the lack of customer service and communication/follow up has been quite shocking.

I stayed at the Novotel to attend a work Christmas party then the next day I visited the Christmas markets and met a friend for lunch. I normally stay at the Clayton but Novotel was just as good I had a lovely breakfast in the Novotel hotel. The gentleman who I spoke to at breakfast was so friendly and welcoming. (Lit) We had a little chat about my plans which was nice. Breakfast was lovely and I was pretty much full all day afterwards. I love a hotel breakfast! After I had eaten breakfast the gentleman checked I had everything I needed and offered me additional drinks. Thank you very much ☺️ this was appreciated. Great representation of the hotel.
