What a wonderful staff and service! Samuel at the front desk was so welcoming and friendly and helpful. He made sure to answer all of our questions and graciously provided such excellent and hospitable service. Alexander accommodated our room needs as we had a group of 6 travelers. We did need some adjustment on one room and he accommodated all of our needs with kindness and generosity. Such a pleasant gentleman. Sophia at the bistro was so adorable and friendly and made us feel like family. Sven at the front desk was also extremely helpful. Always smiling and seemed to genuinely want to give us the best of service. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food at the Bistro was excellent. Don’t miss the breakfast buffet! It was a real highlight for us. Thank you to all of the wonderful staff who made our stay such a wonderful experience!

Nice - be sure to set your own alarm if you have an early morning flight.

The hotel is located outside the hustle and bustle which made it nice and quiet but easily walkable to where we wanted to go. It has a nice lobby and the rooms were nice. Bed was comfortable. When checking in , we did request a 3am wake up call and a taxi for our trip to the airport. Neither were arranged. We called down in the morning at 3am to confirm our 4:45am taxi and were informed that one was not scheduled. Glad we were proactive.

Modern hotel with reasonable rates for a Swiss city

This is a very pleasant, modern and efficient hotel which is easily accessible by tram from either of Basel's railway stations. Our room (521) was clean and spacious with a bathroom which, unusually, had two entrances! Dinners in the hotel were so good that we ate there on all three nights of our visit. The summer bowl was one of the best salads we've ever had. On the basis of the room and the evening meals, this review would merit five stars. However, unlike some other reviewers, we weren't that impressed by the breakfasts; they only merit three stars. There were no fried eggs and the bacon was very greasy. Furthermore, the buffet needs to be arranged in a better way. The most 'popular' items - the bread, the solitary coffee machine, and the hot food - are all located in one corner of the room, which therefore tends to become quite crowded. A nice touch is that prosecco is provided for anyone who wants alcohol at that time of the day. We certainly hope to return to this hotel, but if we do we'll probably book an arrangement that doesn't include breakfast.

Disappointing Stay

I am not sure if hotel star ratings are different in Europe compared to North America (I don’t think they are) but I cannot see how this can be considered a 4-star hotel. The rooms are ok with average amenities and bedding. The air conditioning is weak and does not keep the rooms at a comfortable temperature when it is warm outside. The hallways and elevators look better suited to an office building rather than a hotel. The service is mediocre. When I arrived, I expected to valet park my car but this is not an option. I was to self-park around the corner in an underground parked which is connected to the hotel. I asked if a bellman could help me with my many bags. The front desk attendant seemed surprised but did manage to find someone - I am not actually sure if he was a bellman or just a random employee then assigned to help me. The employees I interacted with seemed annoyed to have to speak to me (in English) and seemed sort of “fake-friendly” most of the time. The breakfast buffet is okay; room service is limited and not great but you can get Uber Eats from nearby restaurants. Overall, a disappointing stay, I would not stay here again.

Amazing in all ways. I read the reviews about air conditioning in summer. It felt a bit hot and I was struggling with climate control. But then my colleague in Basel told me they did this for the environment. When I understood this, the stay experience is even more enhanced. Legendary breakfast! I would never imagine the breakfast or any food, as a matter of fact, to be good in Switzerland but I was wrong in all accounts! The hotel breakfast has an amazing selection of quality food. The room is clean and so comfortable. The house keeping team extremely efficient . I had a young man serving me at the Reception, even though he was polite, he was short with his words. I’d love a bit more info. Otherwise everyone made me feel welcomed and they are very helpful. I’ll come back
