It was understood when booking that this was a budget hotel, so I was not surprised at what we got. What i was surprised by, the idea that budget means a lack of cleanliness. The smell in the corridors was sickening, and the smell in the room wasn't much better. It smelt like a mixture of a dirty mop and faeces. If you can get past the shower next to the bed and having no wardrobe, tea making facility and minimal lighting, it is ideal as a base for getting to birmingham city centre, which is a 10-minute walk away. It is not really that cheap compared to other hotels in the area. An extra £30 could have got us the travelodge or premier inn.

Ibis budget. My hotel stay was cheap, but when I walked into my room I was disappointed. Apron entering, the reception is small and nice, with a relaxing area. The staff were seemingly overworked and agitated. When I got up to my room, my keycard didn't work so I had to go back to reception. The lifts were very slow. Apon entering my room, my face dropped. There was a double bed with a single bed on top of it. The single bed came with no sheet, or pillowcase, and reception said there was nothing they could do. The ladder was loose, ceiling low and railings practically hanging off. There was a small table and small TV. No kettle, no tea, no amenities. Not to mention there was no actual 'bathroom'. A shower right next to the bed, making the room smell and become crowded. The sink just next to the door, not inside the toilet, and the toilet, so small it was hard to fit in there. I am so disappointed as many things were broken. Don't stay here. And especially if you have more than 1 child, as there is no family rooms.

Clearly is a budget hotel which they have tried to make the most of. The staff were polite and friendly, were helpful when needed. Our key card did not work most of the time, which was not only us as we saw others also having the same problem. The tap water in the room tasted disgusting, ended up buying some canned water from the vending machine downstairs. Only had one pillow each which was very thin, had to ask for another 2. The mattress was also very thin so I woke up with backache. The floor in our room didn’t seem as though it had been sweeped/vacuumed since it was last used. Definitely needs some updating.

Hotel was clean and tidy. What you would expect for a budget hotel. No tea or coffee in the room. If you want one it's £2.50 each from a vending machine on the ground floor. TV in the room wouldn't work. Someone came to fix it and it worked for 10 minutes then stopped again. Heating wasn't working. If you went there in the winter it would be freezing. There was a loud water gushing sound about once an hour. The shower cubicle is in the bedroom with a transparent door. Not very near the city centre and you have to walk through several tunnels to get there with some unsavoury characters living in them. McDonald's and greggs was a short walk but there were a lot of unsavoury characters hanging about outside it.

I'm only giving it 3 stars because it was in an ideal location, right next to the o2 academy. However.. there's budget hotels and then there is this place. Key card was an utter joke, you could never get into the room, back and forth to the reception to sort it. Shower in your actual room, shower door opens inwards so you're getting water everywhere outside. You have to play around with the shower a bit because you'll either get boiling or freezing. So you get a shower in your actual room.. but not even a kettle or tea/ coffee making station.. nope for the price you pay if you wanted tea, coffee etc you have to pay extra, £2.50 just for a cup of tea. Breakfast was very very basic. I'm grateful they provided gluten free bread and cereal but there was plenty more options for everyone else and I wasn't even sure if the jam etc was safe due to cross contamination but once I asked for fresh they did get me some in a bowl. Couldn't really toast my bread either as there was no option to. But I definitely feel it wasn't worth the price, it was very very basic like a school breakfast club... There was hair in my room, especially a long thick black one wrapped around the bathroom door and there was an odd smell in our room. Tv was useless, controller was missing a battery and the back so you had to hold the batteries in just to try and change channels and you couldn't turn it off via remote you had to get back up to turn it off. Parking was a joke though, narrow, pot luck parking for £8 (24hrs) on top, some idiot when we arrived had decided to park over the line of another spot so it was a nightmare plus it's at the very back of the hotel where it says "permitted holders only". I'd only come back here if there was another concert in the o2 but that's it..
