This was one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed!!

From the start what you see on the booking photos is a complete lie the front of the hotel looks amazing online the minute we got there, there was overgrown bush’s no lights and loads of homeless standing outside the hotel, we were nervous walking in as we could not see it was so dark, the reception is also ur food and bar (no bar a small mini fridge behind reception) the light that are shown in all the down stairs area half them were broke. Luggage room stunk of mold and was so unorganised. Room does look like what is online to be fair but had none of the facilities it said it would come with no toiletries, air conditioning didn’t work, remote and telly didn’t work lights above bed didn’t work, key cards kept breaking got serval of then for the space of two nights, WiFi didn’t work, elevator was unsafe kept breaking down, and when we first arrived receptionist was extremely rude and wouldn’t hold our luggage and told us to wait, now I will say was it was very clean in the room and the cleaners were extremely nice and polite your also asked ever night by a “security man” for your room, name and number. Bare in mind we have stayed in other ibis hotels in England this one was by fair the worst !!

Was threatened outside main door with a needle asked reception if they had security 💪 but said no .. I was told it was my problem being a citizen and to call the. Police myself as it wasn't there problem.... Absolutely disgusting and will publish my experience on every social media media platform going ..... Shame on ibis 😡😡😡😡😡😡

Room is small but perfectly clean and tidy. Towels etc provided but no kettle. Vending machines downstairs for drinks/snacks and also Pizza available. Reception staff delightful. Parking on site (£8 ) which is a secure area with electric gate. Rooms a bit noisy on the main road side so better on car park side. Buffet continental breakfast perfectly adequate-cereals/fruit/yoghurt and pastries. Ideal if only there as an overnight stay.

A very clean hotel with everything needed for a basic weekend break in Birmingham. Great response from the team leader on the Sunday when unexpectedly breakfast ended earlier than advertised. Couldn't do enough to make sure we were catered for (even with a gluten free requirement) - fabulous customer service. Thank you

Good points: very close to O2 Academy if that’s where you’re going. Room functional. Very cheap. Reception staff helpful. But: filthy corridors, sick smell in various areas, dubious stained carpets by lifts, door entry card did not work so had to get reception to fix it (a neighbouring guest had the same issue as well), there is no separate bathroom - the toilet is in a tiny ‘room’ of its own we didn’t trust closing the door fully for fear of being trapped inside, the shower is like an aeroplane toilet cubicle, the tiny sink is by the bed. The single bed is like a bunk bed you access via wobbly ladders over the top of the double bed and the bunk bed frame not secure. The room looked clean but because the rest of the hotel is not clean we didn’t trust the cleanliness of the bed sheets, carpet etc. Posters in the lifts warning for watching out for child trafficking (worrying, is this the clientele who use the hotel as well?). No thanks. Did we complain at the time? No as it was a one night stay based on its location.
