The hotel itself is a step back in time with a lovely foyer & lounge, rooms are comfortable & spacious. There's a pub & restaurant on site with a decent menu & the food is nice but large portions so consider sharing!. FYI, there is no pool which would have been nice with the Canberra summer!.

Very shabby . Old dirty carpet and furniture Breakfast barely average Don’t stay here if you have any mobility issues - stairs and a rabbit Warren of rooms . Lovely central garden and pleasant staff . Big rooms overlooking garden are ok but again shabby . Needs a complete make over if it’s to compete Restaurant very average - eat at Ainsley road shops Stayed 3 nights and always try to stay Accor as member - but disappointing stay apart from excellent position and car parking . Needs a second armchair in the large room for couples as there is space and it’s obvious to do so for comfort . Tatty maintenance in whole hotel . Disappointing as looked lovely in photos

The Mercure has always been our go to Hotel when visiting Canberra. While away from the centre of the city it is only a ten minute walk to the War Memorial. The room I stayed in on this occasion was clean and tidy. Breakfast is a fairly basic affair but should suite most people with the standard, bacon, eggs, cereal and salad items tc as well as some pastries and breads. The attached bistro never disappoints and the meals are diverse, tasty and plentiful. I found the bar prices remarkedly good for a hotel. I have always found the staff friendly and attentive, this visit was no different. What was not so good was the internet. Lets just say it was less than adequate. It did not matter if I was in my room or area adjacent reception it was pretty bad. It was extremely difficult trying to stream anything as it would often stop and freeze. Getting emails was a somewhat hit and miss. Would I return. Yep in a heartbeat but I would be more mindful of the lousy internet and make other arrangements.

Deeply regret staying here. The hotel is old old , ok it has history but it’s really shabby . You definitely need a car . The food is basic with no imagination. Staff on bar are clueless . They’ll shaft you into a rubbish room so watch out and complain. I feel sorry for a couple checking in in front of me who were on a luxury package travelling around. Oh dear . Luxury this is not . Shabby shabby shabby .

Siamo stati in questo albergo di passaggio da Sidney a Melbourne, molto caratteristico. Personale delicato, stanza grande con balconcino esterno, pace e tranquillità. Stile differente dagli altri alberghi di catena Mercure, adatto al posto di montagna in cui si trova Canberra. Colazione buona. Peccato per la wifi a pagamento, il parcheggio a pagamento, e le bottiglie di acqua di cortesia che dovrebbero essere in omaggio, e che invece sono a pagamento anch'esse.
