Great hotel stay, especially in the circumstances, with a warm welcome and very friendly service throughout. How refreshing to find a hotel with deep baths, somewhere to unwind and relax comfortably, with the benefit of being able to watch the TV from it too.

I’d booked the Ibis so was pleasantly surprised to be transferred to the Novotel. The initial greeting was warm but then it transpired my booking and payment for breakfast couldn’t be found. After some delay and computer checking it was eventually found and the front desk team were apologetic. The hotel is ok, it’s clean and tidy and has a bit of extra comfort over the Ibis. The atmosphere was a bit quiet. But at breakfast the confusion over the breakfast booking sadly continued, it couldn’t be found and I was told I’d need to ‘take it up with reception’ myself. I asked if they wouldn’t mind checking for me as I’d already gone through this the day before but that was met with apathy and she made the point it was her last day and doesn’t really care. With all that in mind id describe it as a very mediocre experience in a half empty soulless disorganised hotel in the midst of a pandemic, and I’m in no rush to go back.

I would like to let you know that since then we have improved: we have all the reservations from Ibis already moved to our system and double checked before guests arrive. A very professional approach from the staff regarding everything we needed. We had room service cocktails and we got the swimming pool as extra (we had been upgraded from our Ibis stay next door to this room). The room itself was big and modern with a large tv and a modern bathroom. The only complaint about the room was the cigarrette smoke present in the room (or coming from the aircon) which for a non smoker it can't be missed (hence why the sleep quality rating is lower rated by me).

Had two nights here and had a great stay. The pool and gym are open early and close late and the rooms are a great size the staff were lovely and helpful, and we enjoyed a meal in the bar once. It was 10 x better than your average hotel

Hi Was overall dissatisfied with the level of service at the Novotel Reading; Heating did not work Drainage for the sink was not working Key cards were constantly not working and had to get them reset several times No one picked up the phone at reception after trying to contact them several time about the issues This is not the level of services I expected from such a reputable company

There was a problem at reception. Having been checked into a room reserved and paid for online I was then brought back downstairs and told I was not booked in! There was chaos in reception and I was deeply humiliated as it was inferred/suggested that I had not booked the hotel but the one next door. I had not. Long story short having taken payment online and then again on arrival - saying they do not take payment online - they do, I had the room withdrawn and returned to Somerset a completely wasted 300 mile round trip. I will never stay at this groups hotels ever again. No one seemed to care or be in charge. It is now Monday afternoon and non of my money paid in has been returned.

On getting to the hotel noone on the front desk informed me of the swimming pool the times it's open n shut or would I like to fill in the paperwork etc requires for that when I was checking in. The shower was of very poor power the bed sheets nearly fitted the edging of the bed and were easy in tucked causing discomfort. The bath the part you twist to release the plug it self to drain the bath broke and came apart in my hard. There was what looked to be like blood or possibly ketchup on the wall in a number of places. This was meant to be a great treat for me and my other half for our 2nd anniversary.

The staff are of a high standard and the hotel is comfortable. For its price you find it hard to beat. If you want to park a car at the hotel carpark then book it when you book your room as there is only limited parking

The second time we have stayed here within a couple of months. All staff are so accommodating and friendly. Very clean and comfortable stay. Breakfast was amazing with a varied choice dinner was also lovely.

Arriving on the last day of the Reading festival is probably asking for trouble. I had pre-booked a parking space, and double checked via email in advance that it would be available. Sadly when I arrived a mix up had occured and my space did not exist. In all honesty there is a perfectly adequate NCP carpark a few minutes walk away which you can validate your parking for to get a very reasonable rate. Once parked, the reception staff acknowledged their error, gave plans to prevent such things from happening again and compensated me for my inconvenience. You can always judge any business by how they handle a mistake, and I have to say that they handled it well. After this slightly bumpy start, the rest of the stay was great. The room was very comfortable, the bar and breakfast were very pleasant and the staff were unfailingly polite. The free ice cream when leaving back into the sweltering heat on Monday ,morning was most welcome too! I'd stay again, but would probably just park in the NCP and avoid a lot of grief.

I come to visit my daughter at reading university f.The hotel is in the best location in central reading among the shops ,department store and restaurants. Near the railway station and has the bus stop infront . The hotel is very clean ang comfortable. The breakfast also great.

We have stayed for many years for the same weekend at this hotel and have always found it excellent and entirely suitable for our purposes. The only small problem we encountered this year was that having arrived at the hotel at 23.20 we asked for a drink in the bar on the understanding that it was open until 24.00. The female staff member insisted that she was "cashing up" and going home. If you want to close at 23.20 then say so. A small problem but irritating at the time. Overall the staff are excellent.

I have stayed ant this Novotel before, and will be back. It is very convenient to the Reading Station, the rooms are clean and comfortable. My only complaint during this stay was that the window facing the street had a latch that was broken. It was the last week of the term for the local university so the students were partying loudly and I could not close out the noise.

This is by far the most unorganised nova hotel we,ve stayed in.Firstly we checked in at 12pm left luggage in hotel and was told the room would be ready at 2pmwhich is normal.we went out to explore reading and arrived back at the hotel at 2.30 to be told our superior room wasnt ready! so we went and sat in the bar for a drink,eventually the bar manager asked were we waiting for something ?so he went to check if our superior room was available,to our dismay it was NOT AVAILLABLE AS IT WAS NOT CLEANED!this was 4pm so we accepted a lower floor room just to get in some room.when we arrived at our room there was an EXECUTIVE sign on the door, feeling impressed we were hoping the room was going to be amazing .....unfortunately putting a sign on the door does not make it executive! IT WAS THE SAME AS ALL THE OTHER NORMAL ROOMS THAT WE HAVE STAYED IN.In the evening we went down to the resturant where there was a long table of about 15 children and a few adults ,a table of 4 and a table of 2 with half the resturant closed ready laid for breakfast and when we went to order food we were kindly told there was a hour and a half wait! needless to say we went our for our evening and we will not be rushing back to this hotel(also stains on ceiling of alcohol,lovely!)

We also appreciate that the delay in checking in to your room was not acceptable and I can assure you that this situation is not at all typical of the standard you can expect of Novotel. We endeavor to have all our rooms ready for guest arrival; however, the late departure of previous guests can sometimes hinder the progress of the housekeeping team. This issue is being addressed by the hotel’s Head Housekeeper. I was equally sorry to learn of the delay you experienced in the restaurant. An excellent experience - very well located and great service from friendly staff. rooms clean and locared within walking distance of railway station and bus services. easy location to access Heathrow airport via frequent bus service.
