As a frequent traveller to the lovely Austrian capital of Vienna I have stayed many times at the Mercure Vienna Westbahnhof Hotel and have had a good experience each time and this hotel has sort of become my go-to hotel whenever I'm in town. I notice here on Tripadvisor that there are mixed reviews of this hotel, but I have had nothing but good stays at this hotel. The Mercure Vienna Westbahnhof Hotel is located right across the street, approximately 200-300 metres from the entrance to the Westbahnhof (West Train Station) in the Western part of Vienna. The Westbahnhof is in it self very well connected with train services and buses as well as multiple subway lines, trams and buses, including an inexpensive 24/7 very convenient airport bus to Vienna Schwechat International Airport (VIE). Also the Westbahnhof has a multiple storey whole mall inside of it with many restaurants, clothing stores, multiple supermarkets such as "BILLA", multiple convenience stores, a bank office as well as a post office, and is connected with escalators, elevators and tunnel connection to the subway station, which is very convenient, and this is only a few hundred meters from the hotel. There is also many other nearby with a "LIDL" supermarket 200 metres from the hotel entrance, also several other restaurants close to or on the same street as the hotel ranging from for example a Chinese restaurant and in the building next to the hotel the legendary authentic Austrian restaurant "Pulkautaler". I have arrived early In the morning several hours before the actual check in time and been given complimentary early check in. The reception staff has always been very friendly and professional and have smiled and have always been fast and efficient, approachable and noticeably genuinely enjoying their jobs whose positive vibe and energy rubs off on you. The hotel is huge and consists of originally two buildings on the corner of the block which has been intertwined and connected with each other, so there is a large number of rooms in this hotel, which also is quite tall too with 8 floors high. Rooms in this hotel have all been spacious and with fresh wall-to-wall carpet, new and fresh wooden panels and wooden interiors - all the wood is the same colour on the tables, chairs, nightstands, wardrobe, shelfs - a huge comfortable double bed, comfortable sofa chair, large decorative wood table /working desk with adjacent cushioned comfortable working stool. On the desk two fancy silver trays with kettle, glasses, cups and complimentary coffee and tea. Tasteful, modern and stylish interior and decoration with green and white coloured walls, huge fancy gold mirror on the wall and and another huge two meter mirror built in the shelf/cupboard/garderobe-combination - which is also containing a mini-bar/refrigerator that also has an adjustable shelf with a free standing flat screen "Phillips" brand TV on it that can be turned it different directions depending on if you're watching TV from the bed or if you're sitting in the chair or by the desk, very nicely and convenient configuration. There's also a section with coat hangers and space for stoving away your luggage as well as multiple shelfs and drawers and also a full size safe that fit your laptop safely. By each side of the bed is two big free standing wood nightstands with one spacious drawer, huge golden lamps and a telephone at one of them. There are two huge windows with three different curtains - a white semi-transparent light thin curtain, second a lovely green - precisely the same green colour as parts of the wall - then the exclusive fancy good looking braided red black out curtains. The two huge windows opened all the way out and offered a great and far view to the street and the surroundings. The bathroom is spacious and has a shower/tub combination that was fitting even for me who is well above 6+ foot / 190+ cm long. There is a spacious bathroom sink with yet another huge mirror in the same wood material as all the other wood interior with a long and spacious shelf. There is a big radiator on the wall as well as an electronic tempered towel rack also on the wall. The bathroom was impeccable cleansed, just as the whole hotel room also was. In conclusion I really enjoy the Mercure Vienna Westbahnhof Hotel and have had the pleasure of enjoying multiple great stays here and I would (and will the next time I'm in town) stay here again and could definitely recommend this hotel. It is offers a genuine Mercure experience and is up to the high Mercure standards and offers great value for money.

Ok if you have all day to wait to check in at reception

The staff at reception were very slow and not very helpful at all. There was a two hour wait to check in and only 8 people in line. They left guests just standing at desk and disappearing for half a hour with no explanation and also if you had booked just for one night they sent you to another hotel, why when you have already paid. They had over booked themselves, computer was very slow. Both key cards deactivated and we were forced to go back in the lift to reception and have this rectified. No kettle which we found disappointing as this should be a basic requirement for a 4* hotel. No English speaking channels on tv. Shower temperature fluctuates with minimal adjustments. Also I had oversley had my hair brush in the bathroom when I came to do my hair at night I found two very long black hairs in my brush I have blonde short hair so not mine so where did that come from yuck is not in it

Not a 4 * hotel. Actually a shambles, but a good location.

Currently staying here at the Hotel Mercure Wien Westbahnhof, and there have been a few issues that I have overlooked, but the latest has forced me to make this review. The location is actually decent, but good Lord this hotel is a shambles. The hotel is very tired once out of the lobby, and very outdated, so could do with a complete overhaul; which won't happen by the looks of things. The hotel is kept clean. Now for the issues. This is not a 4* hotel. I'm here with work and the booking is all through them. I was given a 'basic' room which is stated to come without any safe, fridge, AC or even a kettle. Fair enough, you get what you pay for and you can upgrade to a "premium" room for these otherwise known as basics in an actual 4* hotel. But with them forewarning they can manage to defend this. What can't be defended is the malfunctioning key cards. The keys, even kept away from phones, deactivate EVERY SINGLE DAY. And after getting back to the hotel this evening we had to endure a 30 minute queue to get to the desk; a long wait to get into your own room due to the hotel being constantly understaffed. We were then greeted by a shrug at our query about the key card, with the very poor mannered receptionist stating 'We've told you before that they deactivate every day as there is a problem with the door lock system.' This doesn't really seem a great solution to an obvious major issue with a simple hotel requirement, or in any way a reasonable way of dealing with a constant issue for a customer. The customer service tonight was vile. Other things to note- generally, the staff are rude. The hotel issues a free drink with check-in to be used during your stay. The barman working most nights states he works for the bar and not the hotel, was extremely rude. Seems to want to do any other little job than serve a customer waiting. They also haven't stocked any draught beers or rose wine for the duration of my stay thus far (7 nights). The temperature outside is currently 0° yet the room is very warm and I have turned the radiator off and have to open the window. Maybe a ploy to make you upgrade for the AC? It's noisy outside, but it's a city location so that is what it is, but unfortunately for me a lot of smoking is done beneath my window so the smell drifts in a lot. Again, I'm just giving all the details of my stay. The water for the shower fluctuates temperature whilst taking a 5 minute shower so constant slight adjustments are required as the water will go from freezing cold to boiling hot with a millimetre move. I don't watch TV but it's to note out of the 10 channels there are none that aren't German language. Only book if your budget can't get you anywhere else.

Jako pracownik firmy Accor wiem że w każdym hotelu przy rezerwacji pokoju można skorzystać ze śniadania i parkingu (czyli dla pracowników sieci jest wliczone). My tego nie dostaliśmy, było nam powiedziano jeżeli coś takiego jest to powinien mój hotel za to zapłacić…. I szczerze mówiąc nie rozumiem dlaczego takie sytuacje mają miejsce, jeżeli pracujemy w jednej firmie i powiedziano że dla wszystkich pracowników jednakowe warunki. Zaznaczę że w innych hotelach zawsze było to wliczone

Great location, comfortable hotel

This hotel is in a great location for accessing public transport to all the main attractions. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean but the one downside was that the shower was leaky, causing water to collect on the floor. Staff seemed friendly and helpful. They kindly checked us in even though we were early. I would be happy to stay in this hotel again.
