Avoid at all costs - dirty rooms and refusal to give refund

Avoid at all costs. We arrived on Friday for a three night stay and got to our room and instantly decided the room was not up to standard. We were in the room less than five minutes before we came downstairs and explained to the manager we would not be staying here as it was not up to the standards we would expect for the price. He told us he would initiate the refund after we explained and we trusted in good faith that this was sent to us. However, after we left the property we found out he has charged us for the first night which he didn’t tell us when we were there and told us it was their policy despite the fact the room was dirty and we were only there 20 minutes. I’ve tried to get in contact multiple times and have been ignored over and over again. Outrageous behaviour.

We stayed for one night on our way up from Spain, not expecting too much, as it is a standard Ibis. Were we surprised, unlike a lot of hotels in France, we received a very warm welcome, particularity the manager David. Our room was warm, clean and well kept. We ate in the hotel in the evening, which is something we do not normally do, and had an excellent meal given my wife's garlic allergy, again with the help of David. After a good nights sleep, an early breakfast, again welcomed by the manager David [does this guy not sleep ?]. Will definitely visit again and hopefully see David again.

We loved our stay at this hotel, the room was nothing special but clean and comfortable, however the service from staff and the breakfast made up for it. Easy flat walk into town about 40 minutes but we like walking. Amazingly helpful staff, the lady at reception took us to the lift and called it for us. Next morning we had a lovely welcome from staff and the breakfast was just amazing. Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs (not overcooked as on some buffets) boiled eggs, hams and meat selection, cheeses, cereals, yoghurts, dried fruit, fresh fruit, tinned fruit, compote, jams, pancakes and maple syrup, croissants and pain au chocolat, different types of bread, selection of proper teas(see picture) and coffees, fruit juices.......I'm sure I've forgotten some things because it was just endless. This is how a breakfast should be done, we would definitely stay here again, just for the breakfast and the staff!

Budget hotel at a non-budget price

I stayed for a few nights at IBIS Styles Hotel in Cognac while on business in early December, which to me was a fairly low season. My company got a rate of 125 Euro/night. At that price I was expecting a decent mid range hotel based on staying at other Hotels near Cognac and by reading on the IBIS website that the IBIS Styles is a step up from IBIS Budget brand and this was my first experience with the IBIS brand at all. Front desk staff are extremely friendly and engaging. I got a free room upgrade with my Accor status. The room itself was a bit of a let down. Mostly because of the dark decor (back wall behind bed painted black and dark carpet and one small window) This is definitely is a budget hotel solely based on room features and If you can get a room at this hotel at a good price, it could be a good option. Room features that weren't there No - work desk No - work chair. Instead a hard plastic cheap chair you see on a patio No - USB outlets No - Kettle, coffee or tea No - Mini-fridge No - Ironing board, or iron, although the web site mentions one No - Additional amenities in the bathroom, just soap No - Streaming features available on the TV Limited power outlets - One by the bed and one at the far corner by the window that was too far away to be useful An odd little plastic stool that was too small to be of use in any way The bed was very comfortable, but the pillows were very small and square and had a weird textured pillow-case on them that made them look at feel like couch pillows. The good aspects of the room - The heating system worked well - It seemed fairly sound proof - It was very clean - The bed was comfortable - The hot water worked well I also saw on the IBIS website in-room newspaper and free water bottle mentioned, but I did not see them. The breakfast was just OK. The chairs in the breakfast room are all hard plastic. Parking is plentiful and free.

A perfect stay of 2 nights. The staff could not have been more pleasant or accommodating. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was also well equipped and spacious. A full breakfast was included in the room price. The pool, poolside with sun-beds and tables/chairs were very lovely. Disability access was excellent. We could not have been happier or more impressed and would not hesitate to return or recommend.
