A good place to stay to see the city

A surprisingly quiet hotel given it is on a major intersection. Very near the U1/U3, so, handy for the airport line and straight to the station. It's more an area for offices but if you take a 10 minute walk you get to Lange Reihe which has an abundance of cafes and restaurants and is very buzzy. With the window on slant, the room was cool at night during 35C heatwave. Lovely touch to be able to pick up a complimentary apple in reception. 2 things that might need attention: the lifts are so slow that from the first couple of floors it is quicker often to walk up and down. And my pillow needed a clean as it had that hot sweaty head smell Otherwise, all good and glad we stayed here.

Another fantastic stay at Novotel Hamburg Citry Alster! My wife and I were warmly welcomed by the hotel and location is so convenient to get into city center! Strongly suggested!

We stayed here for 3 nights while visiting Hamburg Christmas markets. One of the underground stations entrance is directly outside the hotel. The nearest station is Lübecker StraBe. The room was clean and comfortable, housekeepers cleaned the room each day. There was a small gym and a spa area on the top floor which was nice to have available. Our booking confirmation stated the room had a fridge however it did not, the area for the fridge was there but empty. We were looking forward to buying normal milk to make tea but were not able to. We enquired at reception about the fridge but they said it wasn’t on our booking but it clearly was. My mum has fortnightly injections that have to be kept in a fridge, luckily they were not due during our trip but I would advise anyone who expects a fridge in their room that needs it for medication to contact the hotel before arriving to ensure they have the fridge, even if it is confirmed on the booking it isn’t guaranteed there will be one. We booked breakfast for one morning during our stay, it was expensive at €27 each, the breakfast was nice though with a good selection. Drinks were also expensive with a small bottle of water over €3 but there is a supermarket a short walk away The staff were friendly and helpful. I would stay here again if visiting Hamburg.

The hotel is well connected with public transport right outside. It is a clean and comfortable hotel. Reasonable price and nice food. The staff were helpful. On arrival the taxi would not accept credit card and the staff helped sort that out. In the evening, the waiter in the restaurant was excellent, very friendly, kind and accommodating. The room was a good size, bathroom is great. Lovely shower. I asked for extra pillows and they were there on arrival. Everything felt clean. There was construction going on in the hotel during our stay. Has to be done sometime so it is what it is. Perhaps connected to this, the lifts were very slow to arrive and we often opted for the stairs. There is a hospital close by so we could hear sirens quite often but it didn't bother us too much. We walked to a nearby restaurant and found that the area wasn't great. I didn't feel very safe walking there after dark with my kids. But the Public transport is excellent and the entrance to the underground was right outside the hotel. That was well tended, clean and bright. Frequent connections, easy travel.

Quite good location , rooms comfortable and cosy , but we spent understand how the air conditioning working , staff friendly and helpful we didnt buy Breakfast but my friends said its good enough , we paid like 100 euro per night , so I think it's very good price ,
