Nicer than expected

We stayed for 1 night on January 1st. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice this hotel was, the beds were very comfortable, with an extra two pillows in the room, the shower was a lot larger than other hotels in the same chain! Staff on reception were very pleasant and welcoming! Only thing to note was the window in our room wouldn’t shut properly so it got a little chilly and there was toothpaste smudged up the bedroom wall when we arrived!

I arrived late and cold.I had a problem with a new credit card. Tibo was welcoming and patient and we sorted the problem. Instant hot food and a clean room.

At first wwe booked family room- one Socket for the whole room of 3 people. There is no kettle in the room, but there is a hairdryer. If you have a lot of gadgets, there won’t be enough sockets for everyone. Our room was on the top floor under the roof - when we left the air conditioner on so that it wouldn't be hot, the staff took the card and we returned to the stuffy room.Breakfast is normal, but when there are a lot of people, there is nowhere to sit and not enough dishes. The staff is polite The impressions are not very positive. For such a large hotel chain, the requirements for the rooms should be higher.

Tried to charge massively extra after originally accepting my booking & taking my money.

They accepted my booking, took my money. They later decided that rather than honour their contract they wanted to charge me 10x the original amount or I would have to pay a cancellation charge greater than the booking price. After a decent argument during which they decided to try & blame me for their ineptitude they finally agreed to cancel without charging me for their actions.

The rate you initially booked was the result of a technical error in our system, which displayed a price significantly lower than the correct rate—so much so that it was even cheaper than the price of the breakfast included in the stay... I believe you will agree that such a discrepancy is a clear indication of an error, rather than a valid rate. While I understand your dissatisfaction, I must point out that we acted promptly to address the issue once it was identified. Our team reached out to explain the situation and offered options, including a no-cost cancellation, to ensure you were not penalized for this rare and unfortunate error. That said, I must admit disappointment at your rating of 2/10 for this isolated issue. It’s unfortunate that this single matter, which was addressed transparently and with fairness, overshadowed the service and care we put into our guests' experiences. We strive to ensure such errors are as rare as possible, and we are reviewing our processes to avoid similar occurrences in the future. I hope you can appreciate that it would not have been reasonable for us to honor such an obviously incorrect rate. Thank you for your understanding, and I do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back under better circumstances, to give you the experience we are truly proud of delivering. The perks - beds are comfy, parking is free, it was clean and staff are friendly. The negatives - the rooms are cramped- not much space around beds and sloping ceilings. No air conditioning and when we opened the windows, wasps came in so it was super hot. The breakfast is expensive and there is no tea and coffee in the rooms. It is all a little dated and run down. Would not return and it was our first time in ibis and don’t think we will use them again.

While we're glad to note that all our bathrooms are equipped with shower rooms and we offer toiletries for purchase, we understand your concerns regarding the room temperature and space. We are pleased to inform you that our hotel offers 80 rooms with air conditioning, and for the rooms without, extra fans are available upon request for added comfort. Moreover, we acknowledge your comments on the breakfast pricing, which is aligned with Ibis hotels in Belgium due to taxes and the extensive variety we provide. Additionally, our windows are designed to be fully opened for fresh air, and we regret any inconvenience with the natural elements outside. Nonetheless, we take pride in the prime location of our hotel, ideally situated in the city center of Waterloo, close to the business district and major attractions.
