Better designer needed

Good position near the city centre but there are a couple of design flaws. The bathroom and toilet is often too small in these places; this time, the toilet paper was behind the, ahem, customer and very hard to reach; then, ahem, effective wiping was impeded by the sink. The other problem is the size of the breakfast room; the first morning, people were queueing up for tables. We came down earlier on subsequent days. Good breakfast, though.

Thank you for your message. We've just redesigned the bathrooms and I'd be delighted to hear your suggestion on where to put the toilet paper. For breakfast, in fact, on long weekends, coming earlier or later is the only solution we can offer at the moment, avoiding the 8:30-9:30 slot.

A stayed in this lovely clean hotel located opposite the Basilica for 10 nights, literally on the highest part of Boulogne-sur-Mer. Although I was allocated a room overlooking a car parking area, the location of this room wasn't so great as smokers would gather down at the carpark and talk loudly into the night. After putting up with this for about 3 nights, I requested another room and the hotel staff were only too willing to move me into another room which I was very happy with. It also overlooked the Basilica within the medieval fort. The breakfasts were one of the best I experienced in Europe and the friendly staff were more than happy to accomodate my requests for an iron and a kettle. A small supermarket and grocer were also just around the corner which was very handy. Thank you to the staff of this hotel for your hospitality.

Absolutely shocking experience

We chose to stay here the night before we were due to catch the ferry back to London and wanted to take the kids to the aquarium so the location was perfect. Arrived to be told I couldn’t use the car park despite lots of spaces because someone had booked all the spots in advance - having been told we couldn’t book in advance ourselves. We had booked a family room - I have a 2 and 4 year old. The radiator was off the wall with exposed wires on show - not exactly ideal with small children in a room. To top things off there was an exposed drain pipe in the room - which meant when the room above decided to have a 2 hour plus shower at 230am it sounded as though the room was being flooded. We went to reception to see if they could investigate the noise - but nobody at reception and no answer on the 24 hour call number. Safe to say the room should not have been occupied. Customer service at the hotel itself was shocking. I wasn’t expecting a luxury experience but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel.

The Comfort double, although tight for 2 people, lived up to its description plus provided unobstructed daylight and a view of the river Housecleaning was meticulous. The location was central: easy to arrive at the castle, the university, and the beach. A large grocery store is just behind the hotel so finding necessities was ultra-convenient. Breakfast offered a variety of quality choices on a pleasant atmosphere Most of all, the staff was cordial, always very helpful, and professional. We wouldn't hesitate to return when in Boulogne-sur-mer
