Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square 5 yıldız

We chose this hotel for two nights at the start of a whistle-stop tour of the east coast, so wanted a nice hotel close to the sights. The Sofitel didn't disappoint. The hotel's location is superb - a minutes walk from the Metro (direct from Dulles airport and quick and easy around the city) and across the road from the White House, the start of an amazing walk around the key sights. Our room was very quiet, and whilst not a problem, faced into a central void so no view. The room and bathroom were large and well appointed, the bed comfortable. We ate in the Opaline for breakfast which was nice though not as upscale as I had expected. No complaints though. The hotel provided a list of local restaurants of which there were many to chose from for evening meals. There are no public areas (other than the bar and restaurant) though it wasn't an issue for us. Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend for a comfortable stay and amazing location.

AAA rates this as in the top 20% of 3-star hotels and being clean, which is accurate. The good: Excellent location for sightseeing on the National Mall. Friendly staff. Clean. Large bathrooms with separate shower and bathtub. There are three reasonably priced dining options for lunch or dinner nearby (Cheesecake Factory, Old Ebbitt Grill, and The Hamilton). Very close to the Metro (McPherson Square), that has direct access to Reagan National Airport (DCA) and access to Dulles Airport (IAD), the Zoo, the Capitol, and Nationals Park with a transfer. The bad: It needs an update. The furniture is worn and some pieces are very worn. It is an old building, so you will hear plumbing and HVAC noise and doors being closed. The rooms don't feel like they are as large as the hotel's description of them says they are. $30 a night ($34.79 with tax) "urban experience" fee which really only provides coffee in the lobby in the morning and ice water in the afternoon. Hotel breakfast is expensive and there are not any sit-down breakfast restaurants nearby. The bottomline: A good place to stay if you get a low room rate that reflects that it is a very good 3-star hotel in an excellent location with a friendly staff, but it needs updating and you will not have easy access to a reasonably-priced, sit-down breakfast restaurant.

My hotel stay was phenomenal!!!! I went for my 50th birthday celebration. The entire staff was outstanding all the way from hotel management, front staff, housekeeping and room service. As I entered my cozy 360 room I was greeted with a bottle of wine and a beautiful bouquet of roses with a sweet note. I have never celebrated my birthday before as an adult so this meant a lot to me. Thank you Sofitel Washington, DC!!!!

The valet service was incredible. Mazimba was fantastic as with everyone else. Great people and a great business for sure! I apparently need 200 characters! So I will keep writing about how great Mazimba was! He is great and very helpful!!!
