Due to the pandemic, the Ibis informed us on December 25 that we would be staying at the Novotel on December 26. Finally, good news in itself, as we were upgraded one category. So far, everything went well, the reception was very friendly, and in the room, apart from a closed safe that we had the reception desk open quickly, there was nothing negative to report either. The worst part - hence a score of only 3 out of 5 - started with the fact that when paying the bill, or we were asked for an amount of CHF. 40 more than what had been agreed upon at the time of booking. When I asked for details, the person at the reception made it clear that we had to pay a late checkout - although this had been agreed upon by email with Ibis and was included in the silver card - which we obviously did not accept at all. Even when we explained that we had the agreement of Ibis in writing and that we had never paid this amount - neither at Ibis nor at Novotel with our silver card - although the request had been made in advance and the availability was given. Despite this, the two other people present (manager...) wanted us to believe that only the Gold card provided this benefit and that we had to pay this amount, which we refused. After insisting, we finally did not pay this amount, but this process was in our eyes totally inappropriate and unprofessional. Nevertheless, we will go again to Ibis or other hotels of the Accor group, because we have always been satisfied in the past, but we do not want this episode to remain without follow-up.
