The Mercure Garmisch is perfectly located right in the middle of some of the best spots and hikes the German Alps have to offer. It's very close to the Partnachklamm, Zugspitze and Alpspitze — there's an extremely scenic hike via the Osterfelderkopf. The interior and rooms are traditional Bavarian style. We stayed in one of the suites, which had plenty of room for a family of four. The biggest downside was no aircon — something you'd expect as standard by international comparison. For that reason I wouldn't recommend it for a summer stay. We happened to be there in the middle of a 35°C heat wave, and the nights were pretty uncomfortable in the hot room. Another minor downside is the lack of any recognition for ALL status members. I'm Diamond with Accor, but at this hotel there was no mention or special treatment. In summary, the main drawcard here is the location, and of course how easy it is to book through the Accor app. If you're coming in summer, better to find a local hotel with aircon. For other times of year, the Mercure is a good choice I think.

We stayed in a wheelchair accessible room. There was a fold down shower chair in the bathroom and hand rails on either side of the toilet. Difficult to move the plastic slider for the shower rose up and down. Towels were put on the highest shelf in the bathroom which was quite high. There didn’t seem to be any air-conditioning. Traffic noise if you leave the window open. Bed was comfy. There are steps to go down to the pool. There is disabled parking out the front which is very convenient. The staff were nice. The service at the restaurant at night was slow and the waitress seemed a little overworked. The food was tasty. Couldn’t have welcome drinks with dinner and was told we had to wait till after 9 pm to order them. Good variety of food at breakfast.
