It was good to stay at your Hotel and everything from my check in to check out even the room was clean and i had good time. The only think i can say its every time the house keeping work at the room the key was blocked

The location of the hotel is convenient as it is next to a shopping mall. The hotel rooms require deep cleaning & fumigation, while the carpets need replacing as they have a serious stench. The dining experience is limited but the is a food court which offers great variety at the shopping mall. I would not recommend the hotel rooms in their current state.

Unfortunately my entire stay at the hotel was the worst I could ever experience in any hotel chain I have ever stayed at. 1 - TRANSFER: I had previously booked a shuttle provided by the hotel. I passed the flight information and arrival time, and yet, upon arrival, I had to wait approximately 40 minutes for the arrival of the transport. In the meantime it was very complicated to keep in touch via phone as the driver hung up on me before we broke up the conversation. 2 - ROOM: I was assigned to a room that did not match what I had booked. The bathroom light was not working and the room smelled very bad. It looked like some animal was dead inside. I went back to the front desk and directed me to another room, in the same pattern. 3- TOWELS: There were no towels available to use in the room. I went back to the front desk to request new towels and Jason (the receptionist) told me that the laundry staff had not returned the clean towels to the hotel. So he had no towels available to provide me. I was in a hotel that had no bath.

Good to be back at Mercure, Bedfordview meeting the same kindly staff again. A pleasant time indeed. All was ready and as expected. Staff is pleasant and tries to help. Hotel is still quite affordable.

Did online check and pre-authorisation which at check in could not picked up. Did not have a blanket in one room. Main shower did not work properly and sink had a blockage, would not drain when used. Good overall facilities though

old furniture specially in the toilette but this is not an issue, as long as they were cleanvery poor service, specially at breakfast where staff did not helpvery quite environment and comfortable sleep

Great stop over near the airport. Shopping centre across the road. Staff were very helpful and the breakfast was very good with fresh fruit and eggs cooked to your liking. Transfers can be prebooked so you are picked up promptly at the airport.

The hotel is situated across the road from Eastgate shopping centre which makes access to restauramts, shopping and entertainment convenient. The online booking process was quick and easy. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and attentive. The quality of the room, bedding and bathroom was very good. Cleanliness was excellent and the mini kitchen was very handy for travellers staying for a few days. This hotel provided us with a great location to access business and leisure activities and we would recommend it without hesitation.

convenient for a short stay

The hotel was very convenient to the massive Eastgate shopping mall, and the room was very comfy. The breakfast was excellent, especially the omelets, but the coffee could've been better. I found the management a little disorganised, I had to ask for towels and soaps a couple of times, some of the visitors were extremely noisy late at night.

I arrived late with a flight early the next morning. When I got up early in the morning I realised I only had hand towels and no bath towels. Also the tap fittings were very loose and the room was showing its age.

Terrible experience

We had a very bad experience at this place. No respect of the welcome procedure for Platinum member, dirty and noisy room. Noisy night with unrespectful neighbours and no action from the night shift. Only compensation was a free transport the the airport. I DO NOT recommend at all. This hotel does not follow Mercure standards.

We were well received when we checked in and the staff was always very friendly and helpful to us. The rooms are very comfortable and the self service stile is very welcoming. We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, which is conveniently located near OR Tambo Airport.

Maintenance manager please inspect each and every room for the plumbing and electrical units. Some taps dont work and shower heads are loose. Some lamps need fixing. That said it is good value for money. The staff are kind and hepful and do their best everytime

I think you get what you paid for in this Hotel except maybe if possible for the management to consider providing water at the room or even pot so we can try to cook if we would want to. But for the sleep quality for me is ok but because my room is near the back office of hotel sometimes you can hear the staff talking with each other.

Nothing really bad but disappointing

Check in was slightly offhand and we were not offered a room upgrade. We asked about a late checkout but were told we would have to ask in the morning - not as per the member benefits. They also could not find a free drinks voucher (usual for Gold or Platinum members). It was delivered to our room but as we were going out we did not expect to use it anyway. The room we were given was pleasant enough but was actually not ready fo occupation as the bed had not been made. Distinct impression was that the staff did not care or could not be bothered.

Not recommend for business trip

The hotel is next to a new shopping mall and about 15 minutes from the airport. The Wifi is really bad and employees is not able to change this because it is from an external provider. For a stay you get only 250 MB free. But most of the time Wifi doesn't work. The restaurant offers a kind of fast food in aluminum shells from the micro wave. The complex itself is very nice and well maintained

Oldfashioned rooms, dirty walls and moskitos

The big suite is in very old-fashioned condition. Dirty walls, odd bathroom, defective stores and lots of mosquitos in the room resulted in a very unhappy first night. Mosquito problem was solved by the hotel the next day. Breakfast is nice and people are friendly and helpful.

A 'Suites' style hotel beside Eastgate Shopping Mall

The Hotel was formerly some sort of 'Suites' hotel before it became a Mercure so it is unusual for a Mercure Hotel, in my experience, in that the rooms have a small kitchen with Microwave, fridge, hob. Plus tea and coffee making facilities. So we ate in the room as we had some stuff with us and saved the 150 ZAR for breakfast the hotel were charging. The room was roomy! Small balcony, aircon, sofa, large coffee table, wardrobes, desk, hairdryer, bath, shower.... Shower was not so 'gushing' and the decore in places was a bit worn. Aircon was good but the room was so hot when we got in (32 it said) that it took many hours for the room to cool down. Hotel has a small pool which we didnt go in and a bar. No restaurant but there are lots of restaurants over the road at the Eastgate Centre (plus shops of course and cinema.). I think the centre was the largest in Jo'Burg when it was built. Reception said it was perfectly safe to cross the road and walk the 150m to the Centre entrance. We also bought milk there for breakfast in Woolworths. As expected, the hotel site is gated and guarded and parking was good, some of it shaded, and you could park beside your room. Ours was up a staircase above the conference centre but there are ground floor rooms. TV had good selection of channels and we watched a free film on the Movie channel. Bed was comfy. I would stay there again and recommend it. We booked at AccorHotels.com and it said we had prepaid but reception said that you have to ignore that as they cant take the payment from the details. I then paid cash and it was 25% cheaper than what I should have 'prepaid' so that was a bonus! I guess the rand exchange rate plummet was the reason!

Upgrade overdue

We last stayed here a few years back and it was a pleasant and still fairly new facility. We were shocked on our recent stay on the condition of all facilities in the room. For instance, our shower leaked badly, shower head in desperate need of replacement, old kitchen utensils, need to request for old and very thin pots and pans, old fridge etc
