Flooded bathroom from blocked drain

My room flooded when using the shower due to a blocked drain. Water flowed back up through the floor drain, at least 1cm deep, flooding the bathroom and flowing out into the carpeted area. I called reception and was told someone would be there soon to assist. After an hour of waiting around, no one arrived so I phoned again and then housekeeping arrived with extra towels. They were shocked by the amount of water soaked into the carpet and then sent engineering staff to assess. Engineering indicated that there wasn't anything they can do without major work, and to use towels to soak up the water from the bathroom and that they'd use a machine after we checked out to suck the water out of the carpet. A concern that this was such a common occurrence that they have a machine on the ready to treat the carpet. For subsequent showers we needed to create barriers with towels and shower in short bursts to prevent large amounts of water coming back out of the drain. Even using the hand basin to wash hands and clean teeth caused water to flow out of the drain again. On check out, the reception staff were not very helpful or concerned, only saying sorry and good bye. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone based on the flooding issue, the lack of concern by staff regarding the unhygienic conditions and the inconvience of having to wade through water to shower and use the toilet. I expect more from a chain hotel and a $500 per night price point.

We’ve previously stayed with Novotel in other locations and had a great experience so chose them again for this trip. Unfortunately the Novotel Sydney Olympic park was a bit lacking. Staff were polite and helpful, the kids room is a great addition. However the lifts were slow and finicky. More attention needed in cleaning. The bathroom had two hairs on the bathroom bench when we arrived, a large mark in the bath that could easily have been polished out with a proper clean of gumption or something similar. The bath plug doesn’t actually fit the plug hole so we just had to place it on top and try not to knock it or all the water would come out. The toilet lid!! was the most discolored old cheap seat I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe it was in what is supposed to be a superior suite which cost us $498 for the night including brekky. I’ve seen nicer toilet seats in a public toilet. The bed was awful and really needs replacing. It was saggy underneath me and I tossed and turned all night and ended up exhausted with a sore back (not something I usually get) Also when we pulled the pull out couch out to use for the kids there was dust and rubbish all under it too yuck, no bedding or towels were provided for the couch even though we’d booked for a family of 4 (however a call to reception and this was rectified although they still only brought one pillow up) The corridors are pretty tired and grubby as well. Dinner was delicious, breakfast was also lovely although they only had scrambled eggs and we weren’t offered anything else (when staying at other Novotels I’ve been able to order poached eggs of something else)

Didn’t get the pillows I asked for on the ACCORALL app so didn’t sleep as well as I hoped for. Wow, could they afford the tiny milk container in the fridge? One coffee and it was gone - 6 more days still to go. Curtains handle broken and unreachable, so, previous visitors and myself had to pull on the curtains to open/close. Result: Pretty dirty. Bed as hollowed out as a big bear’s nest. Old backs suffered severely. Cleaners, have a look on the lower hinge of the shower - black mould loving that top area. The toilet seat not securely attached - had to do all the sitting down stuff at a weird angle. Know the hotel was built in 1999 - so the bath told us. One of the most difficult tasks for us two (older people) to get over the edge to enjoy a shower. Didn’t attempt to take a bath as we would have struggled to get up - no handles to grab on to. VERY EXPENSIVE for a Kiwi to pay with cash - and they only take plastic🙃 Restaurant was acceptable but pricey. Their staff in general was very kind, friendly and helpful except for the one who seems to ‘bark’ at staff and visitors. Not good of you girl😢😩 Staff at the reception desk are not really trained to the standard one would expect of a 4 1/2 star hotel - couldn’t change the name of the person to stay in the room that I booked for - as was requested 4 days before arrival plus when we arrived a day before our son arrived.

Not Novotel standard. Esp bathrooms.

This Novotel hotel is combined in the one building with Ibis with shared services. You pay Novotel rate for Ibis experience and room type. The bathroom was below standard with a stained bath, cracked bench top, missing sink plug and mouldy ceiling. We usually stay at Accor hotels but was disappointed with this!

L'hotel è molto lontano dal centro che è raggiungibile con i mezzi, è necessario cambiare 2/3 linee di treno suburbano (non c'è la metro). E' un hotel di medio/alto livello che non consiglio a chi è interessato a visitare la città, ma al limite solo a chi è in viaggio d'affari. Ho trovato la hall un pò troppo caotica tra fila al check-in e viv vai di gente, il personale un pò troppo freddo e sbrigativo. Comunque l'hotel è moderno, la camera piccola ma modernamente arredata e nel complesso essenziale. La colazione di qualità medio/bassa rispetto ad altri hotel della stessa categoria.
