Dear Timothy M., We very much appreciate your comments regarding your stay at the Novotel Hamilton Tainui. It is always a pleasure to receive positive feedback. I will share your comments with our team. I am sure that this feedback will serve as an encouragement to all of our staff as we strive to continuously improve the quality of our services. Regarding the ground floor door being unlocked, whilst you can enter form the conferencing area to the stairwell you cant go the other way. The door is sometimes left ajar by other guests which is how you would have made it through the first time. The reason this does not open from the stairwell is if there is a fire in the conferencing area, if you entered this door you would walk directly into the fire. If you were to continue following this corridor it will either take you out of the building through the nearest fire exit of down the the basement where there is an alternative fire exit. This stairwell is exclusively for the use as a fire exit and is not for general use but I can certainly appreciate if someone wanted to use the stairs they would reach the same conclusion as yourself. Very little to choose from on the menu in the restaurant for dinner, but the quality of the meal more than made up for it. Breakfast both mornings was unbeatable. Night club across the road was a bit loud in the early hours of Sunday morning

Room and location were great but we felt very let down by staff in restaurant & bar area. On Saturday lunchtime we made a booking for dinner and asked the waitress to reserve a bottle of Prosecco for our dinner (in past you have run out of this type of wine) we wanted to be assured it would be available. She said she definitely would but on our arrival for dinner we were told there was none left and I asked them to check knowing our bottle was reserved to find it had not been put aside at all, so I went without a drink with my dinner. We then proceeded to order the oysters which are advertised on the menu a 'tempura'. My husband received his oysters for starters and they were disgusting - deep fried in a thick batter totally killing any flavor of the oysters- there was nothing 'tempura' about them at all. We spoke to the wait staff and asked them to let the kitchen know that the 2 x 1 doz oysters my son & I had ordered for our mains must be 'tempura' not deep fried in thick a batter. After about a 15 min wait the waitress came back to tell us that the chef said he didn't have any tempura batter available and wouldn't do them for us correctly. Feeling extremely let down after being such long time Accor members we cancelled the remainder of our meal and went across the road to another restaurant. Unfortunately, Hamilton is the place we travel to most often and have always used our Accor membership perks when we do. We are seriously considering not retaining our membership when it next comes around and choosing an alternative place to stay in Hamilton in future. This decision is not only due to this weekends disappointments but also the lack of travel we are able to do in current Covid World. We no longer think its value for money.

Kia ora Marie, Thank you for taking the time out of your day to share your recent experience with us in a way where we can analyse the many aspects where we failed to deliver on our services. It is really disappointing not only because of the amount of times you and your family stay with us but also the clear progression of events that led to a disappointing dinner. At best all i can see was there was no communication either in the handover of holding a bottle of Prosecco to the difference in the batter type which was not communicated to you prior to delivery. I share in your disappointment and frustration especially as a frequent diner and a long standing Loyalty member. I will ensure that i go through with both my team as well as our chefs to correct the areas that contributed to this with the hope to restore your faith in your membership. Please let me know when you are next in Hamilton and i will personally take care of you and your family. Thank you again for this opportunity to correct these mistakes. We ordered a long black on arrival to breakfast. We had to asked for it twice and it came after we were finished eating. It then came in a latte cup. The berries at the buffet were still frozen. Great in a smoothie not so flash on cereal. The fruit fruit was of a very sub standard quality and I don't think I was being fussy. Three times I were to get hash browns as there were none the first two times. The waitress said she would let me know when there were ready. She didn't. Just bringing me some would have been easier all round.

Prompt and efficient check in and check out process. The checker in explained as I had put the "holding fee" as a Visa transaction and that I wanted to pay the bill as an EFTPOS transaction that the Visa transaction would have to be cancelled. This was done on checking out with the checker out showing me the cancelling transaction and giving me a receipt for the process. All done with courtesy. Room was spotlessly clean. Comfortable bedding. Loved the little desk and chair. Wide range of TV channels. Great breakfast buffet. The muesli mix looked like slop but was tasty and had great texture. Wide range of tinned and fresh fruit. Raspberries were a great idea. Loved being able to construct a paleo breakfast with the salmon, tomatoes, spinach leaves etc. Ingredients available for every major style of breakfast: continental with meats and cheeses, pastries; full English; paleo.

We have stayed here 3 times in the last couple of weeks, we enjoy the rooms and room service is food but the stay is always let down by the front counter, most of the staff look miserable. No smiles, no enthusiasm, personal touches or personality is shown. One was to the point of very rude just for asking questions regarding bond, when asked for a printed copy she slammed it down in front of me and walked away. The hotel should also not serve cocktails if the staff are not properly trained to make them my mojito was so strong it was un drinkable. The bar staff just didn't care.

Horrible sleep - noisy club till 2.30am

Unfortunately the noise from a nearby club was unbearable till 2.30am. Hotel itself is great and accommodation is nice. Buffet breakfast was exceptional. Check out was really busy and took a while. Due to the hotel having a special to bundle valet parking with breakfast, it seems alot of people took advantage of that and it took a while to get our car along with alot of others. Would have preferred to self park to get away quicker.

We love staying at Novotel Tainui. We always find your staff professional and helpful. We were in one of the new rooms overlooking the river. The staff and room are just fine. However the standard of food is not good. Had a late evening snack in the restaurant. I had a plate of cheeses. Had lots of chopped apple on the plate and the two large pieces of cheese were not nice. Would have thought a small selection of different cheeses would have been preferable.also my husband was shocked to be charged $24.00 for one glass of wine.

Check in was hassle free and awesome. Room was extremely quiet. The lift provided us with free entertainment (we made the mistake of jumping on when someone had already push their floor and we couldnt get to our floor until 4 goes later! but we had fun). Breakfast and dinner was amazing! So much variety with food. Bed was comfortable as and loved the sheets/pillows. Thank you for our Wedding Night food platter
