Hotel Shortcomings - Great Staff

This is one of those reviews were there were definite problems with this hotel, but the outstanding staff and customer service saved the stay. So here were the problems: No in-room safe - that's gotten to be a standard now with most hotels, was worried about leaving electronics behind (I know, I know, you have a safe at the front desk, does anyone ever do that to store an iPad???). Toilet seat was broken/loose. Shower wand was spraying everywhere (to their credit, maintenance fixed it the next day), window would not close/lock after opening it. Extremely limited storage/closet space, the room was extremely small and tight to walk around in. Nice view looking toward the hills of Buda, but you also get every emergency siren (seemed like at least 3-4 every hour), and the trash truck guys were picking up @ 5:15am waking up everyone. Very warm in the room, A/C did not work well (that was why we opened the window before finding out it wouldn't close). Breakfast was OK - nothing special and it would have been nicer to have some more selections, but it was enough to get your day started. Now to the good stuff: The staff was fantastic, each and every one of them had a smile and were very helpful, special shout out to Adele and Jannik who went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were staying there on a Gate 1 Travel package - I have found on other trips that Gate 1 is usually given the low-end rooms since I'm sure they pay a very low rate for them, and well, seems like that is what we got on this trip.

Easy to find next street over from drop off point for E100 bus check in quick as pre checked in via the app Rooms as expected compact ,clean ,big tv with u tube no facilities to make a drink which let it down a bit nothing like a brew in the morning In a ideal spot tram bus and metro less than 100 yards central to the city easy to walk to all the sights . Good restaurant over the way and good pub were the bus drops Would visit again staff were lovely and very helpful

Hotel in a great location near a metro station, the indoor market, accessible transportation everywhere, you should consider a free weekly travel card, it will save you money if you are in the city for more than 5 nights.., the hotel is relatively clean, reasonable breakfast, nice bar, good prices, overall good value for money

Well located but otherwise underwhelming

Not sure this hotel deserves the rating it has online - on Tripadvisor, Google reviews and elsewhere. From my experience, it does not have a whole lot apart from its location going for it. It's about a three minute-walk to Kalvin Ter, where you can get the metro and various buses. This is extremely convenient for getting around. I was in a ninth-floor room that was strictly average by Ibis standards. It had the usual bare-bones Ibis wardrobe, a round table and a chair to go with it, and a couple of other surface to place stuff on. No mini-fridge, not even bottled water. The AC didn't really work. Whetever you did to the controls, the same weak sigh of somewhat cool air came out of it. Given Budapest was at around 26-28 degrees Celsius during the day for most of my four-day stay, this made sleeping not really comfortable. Opening the window let in a lot of noise. To be fair, the street itself is fairly quiet, despite being a touristy one with lots of restaurants, including a large one right across from the hotel. But the sound of sirens is surprisingly frequent in Budapest for some reason. Day or night, I didn't go more than about an hour during the time I was there without hearing one - whether I was in the hotel or elsewhere in the city. There was also a gong that was rung somewhere in the vicinity of the hotel occasionally. The bathroom was all right. The shower was tight but workable. The breakfast was under-par. The orange juice was atrociously watery, and after a taste, I stuck to the apple juice after that. The coffee was decent. There were only whole fruits - bananas and apples - no cut ones. No lactose-free or soy or other dairy-free milks, which are pretty much standard in this class of hotel all over Europe now. No chocolate croissants either. That left some cold cuts, cheese, bread, cereal, veggies, jams, scrambled eggs, baked beans, and sausages. There are two lifts (as far as I could see) for a hotel of about 135 rooms. One was out of order for three of the four days I stayed there, which often made the wait for the working lift long. The TV was a "smart" one that allowed you to access Youtube and Netflix. Though having to log in to Youtube repeatedly was a pain - often you'd need to do it even after you went away from Youtube for a minute to another channel and came back.

Stayed here as a base to watch the Hungarian Grand Prix. The hotel is fab. Great atmosphere, with gaming vibes everywhere! Rooms are small, but comfortable and well stocked with storage, TV, pillows, hair and body wash and towels. Breakfast is great. Some hot bits, mostly continental and great coffee. But if you like English breakfast tea like my wife does, then make sure you bring some extra bags, because they ran out when we were there, and didn't have any the second or third morning we were there. Great place, great location, lovely staff, bring tea bags 👍🏻
