I have been in this hotel several times during last couple of years. Rooms are spacious and tidy. Air-conditioning is not particularly effective, but by signing a form the personnel will unlock the window to get fresh air during the night. Service is good. Buffet breakfast is good. Underground garage under the hotel is convenient, The location is good and close to the nice riverside of Rhein.

Quick visit for the Christmas markets. Our 3rd stay at Mercure and again service was excellent. Check-in swift and room spotless. We'd been in the room about an hour when we discovered a problem with the safe (Flat battery). In the space of 15 minutes we were in a different room - Well done Lara, this young lady is a huge credit to your hotel. We were provided with a stadt plan, Lara marked it up with the Christmas market locations and pointed out directions. This morning on check-out she enquired after our visit to the markets and wished us well for our onward journey.

We checked in smoothly and pressed the button for the lift. After a while it became apparent the lift wasn’t working. I returned to Reception and asked if the lifts were broken. I was informed that they weren’t, and no other guest had complained, so we could be assured that they were working fine. When we reached our floor I found the doors jammed half open. The next day I asked at Reception if we could get some coffee, as there was none in the room, despite a kettle and cups being provided. The Receptionist passed my request to a male colleague who advised that the provision of coffee was not possible, as it was scheduled for replenishment the next day. When I asked if I could be provided with some coffee in the meantime I was told it wasn’t possible. I asked him if we could borrow bikes. He told me to look downstairs at the machine and download an App. I asked him much it would cost and he told me to download the App. I said I would, but asked if he could just tell me the price please. He said this wasn’t possible. Finally, I asked if he could assist us with booking the Weindorf wine village right beside the hotel. He asked if I had the phone number, I said no. He said he was confident I’d be able to find it on Google. I explained I don’t speak German and would like his assistance booking it please. He said that this wasn’t possible. The room was fine, but the air conditioning sounded like an aircraft taking off, so we left the window ajar for ventilation, and were kept awake by road noise. In another hotel I might have asked for the AC to be fixed, but given my previous dealings with Reception we decided to just put up with it. I was surprised by the determination of the staff to refuse any assistance with what I feel are reasonable requests. I was pleased to leave.

Hotel is easy to find, just set back off the road. Check in was quick Rooms are clean and spacious. The room did have air con which only seemed to work during the day. Would make more sense to have it on during the night and leave it off in a morning. Breakfast was good. Coffee excellent as I drink espresso and this machine was separate to the main coffee machine. Hotel has been marked down due to been told our motorbikes were not allowed in the garage and had to be parked at the front on the hotel and lack of air con at night. Don’t market these facilities if you don’t allow the use of them.
