The biggest advantage of the hotel is its excellent location in the very center of the city. The hotel is located also directly on two metro lines. Nearby are shops and many restaurants. Good accessibility also to the airport.

It was perfect location to reach every destinations in Budapest .The room was clean and sleep quality is excellent, bed is very comfortable.The only problem was ironing room a bit difficult to find and very old fashioned.

We got a room in the ‘B’ building on the second floor. To reach our room we need to take the elevator to the third floor, go over in a bridge to the ‘B’ building and take another elevator down to the second floor. Awesome. I have been staying before this hotel, but always got a room in the ‘A’ building so I have still difficult to understand why we got this ‘privilege’ when the hotel wasn’t fully booked at all.

The second floor in the B building is a Privilege floor and we have limited Privilege rooms in the A building. I stayed at this Mercure and also at the City Center one and this one wins hands down due to the availability of suites and the wonderful staff at reception, in the restaurant and in the housekeeping department. It took half an hour by taxi to get there from the airport which is 20kms away and it cost €22. Make sure to buy your ticket at the taxi booth outside the airport. They will give you the licence plate number and call the taxi to pick you up. A nice young man on reception called Gergo checked me in and told me I had been upgraded to a suite as I'm a Platinum member of the Accor loyalty programme, the best one out of all the programmes I belong to and I definitely recommend it to all frequent travellers. He explained that I needed to request the room to be cleaned and I did that every day. It was very clear so I don't understand the complaints about that. My suite was in the annex building so I had to take an indoor footbridge on the 3rd floor which is the one you can see in some of the photos. The small swimming pool, which was unfortunately closed due to Covid, although the CDC is not aware of any scientific reports of the virus that causes Covid spreading to people through the water in pools or hot tubs, was on that side. I entered the suite which was carpeted and went down a corridor to the living room which was after a guest toilet on the left. The living room had a very comfortable couch and two armchairs and was quite small but I didn't mind that. What I did mind was that there was no light except for a small lamp above the desk and the minibar and that there was no TV. You can see the lack of light very clearly in my photos. The bedroom did have a TV and a bathroom with a shower in the bathtub. I always prefer a walk-in shower and don't know why hotels bother with bathtubs. The bed had a 160cm wide mattress and I always ask for a double mattress. I also ask for an extra double sheet as I usually get too hot under the duvet cover. The bed was very comfortable. The Privilege lounge was closed, also due to Covid, the universal excuse these days for what is really cost cutting in disguise. Gergo had told me that I could get the service at the lobby restaurant from 5-8pm and I just made it down there in time at 7.50pm. A waiter called Adam brought me a glass of white wine then a dish of hot and cold finger food. I was pleasantly surprised when another waiter called Zoltan arrived at 8.15pm and filled up my glass again.
