Great Barramundi dinner, cheap parking, but no gym or shower facilities

Not a bad hotel for a night or two, pretty basic facilities, but the rooms are clean and comfortable. The rooms facing the ocean get the direct sun into the windows and really warms the room up, so the aircon and fan are struggling all the time trying to cool the room down. Pool needs some work. It doesn't look like it does in the pictures on the Hotel website. It needs a good clean, and there is no shade sail over the pool any longer. It just doesn't look very inviting for a swim. No gym or shower facilities which was a shame. They also charge $30 for every hour after 12pm checkout time if you want to extend, yet there is nowhere to shower, so you're kind of forced to extend if needed to shower and change. Breakfast was pretty simple. Hot food was ordered and cooked on request, and the cold food was pretty straight forward. Nothing fancy, cold meats, cereal, juices and yoghurt, enough to get a full stomach. Parking is cheap, $7 a night out the back, so thats not to bad. Hit and miss with service at the bar for lunch and dinner. The bar was unattended for 20mins, and when he got back he said he was out the back stocking fridges. Not my problem, staff the bar if its open and provide customer service. The had the barramundi one evening for dinner - EXCELLENT! Well done chef, so tasty and fresh, very very good! I let the staff know after my meal as well to pass on my feedback, as it was superb. The next day for lunch i had the grilled chicken sandwich. This was terrible! It was very basic and the chips were soggy and not fresh, only just warm, and the sandwich was standard bread, slightly grilled, but soggy, and little amount of chicken inside. Its something a 5yo could make at home! Overall it wasn't to bad for a night, but i wouldn't be running back.

We had a celebratory dinner here. Best experience ever, thanks team Sinta&Shaneal🙏. Nice ambience and very supportive staff. Very affordable as well as and willing to accommodate our needs, thanks chef. Kids meal was super too, loved the easy access to the bar 😊

While room was clean it was dated in areas. The parking situation for a female was discraceful, having to walk around the street with luggage at 2 am while drunken males were yahooing around was terrible

Couldn’t fault this property. From the well mannered staff, the amazing atrium and well spacious room. A/c was on when I entered room l. Bed comfortable and good views of the harbour. Did not have breakfast but dinner was ok but a bit over priced. Would stay here again

I was at Novotel for 3 nights. The atrium is peaceful and calming. The rooms are large with a lounge area. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel in a quiet location, I heard no noise throughout any night. The bathroom shower is somewhat small, I’m not large, so it did the job, but if you’re fussy about your showers it might not reach everyone’s standard. All reception staff were friendly and welcoming. The location is good, easy walk to lots of restaurants. A sign in reception said renovations were in place, but I didn’t see or hear any. Others have said the hotel is a bit tired, which overall I agree, but it didn’t detract one bit from my stay which was comfortable. If you like to go to the gym, Novotel offer free entry to the local 24/7 gym 5-10 minutes walk around the corner. Local gym is a better option than a small gym set up in the hotel, as these are usually quite limited in what they offer. The local gym was quite large, had lots of classes, microwave to heat food, tea/coffee offered all free, lounge area. Overall, I was happy with my stay at Novotel CBD Darwin.
