My husband and I have stayed at this Ibis many times and each time the front desk staff have done everything possible to make our stay great. The hotel is always clean and the rooms are very comfortable. The location is great and we believe that the hotel offers a great value especially with such superb staff.

MOLD IN HOTEL ROOM

Upon checking into my room, I immediately noticed a strong musty odor. I reported this to the hotel staff, but was informed that the smell was normal. Relying on their assurance, I remained in the room and stayed the first night. The following morning, I inspected the room and discovered extensive black mold growth on the ceiling, which was concealed by shelving. Additional mold growth was observed on the bathroom walls and door frame. I have attached photographs and videos documenting the extent of the issue. This is a significant health hazard. When I presented the photos and videos to the hotel staff, they did not treat the issue with any urgency. I was concerned about the health of other guests, but there was no indication that the hotel staff intended to notify other guests or escalate the matter immediately. I was told that management would address the issue the next day. Due to the hazardous conditions, I cut my reservation short and checked out that same day. At check out, the hotel staff stated that the remaining nights on my reservation could not be refunded. It was only after my travel agent followed up with the hotel that a refund was processed.

A horrible experience

I'm writing this on May 30, 5.40 am to report the horrible experience of staying in this hotel during a concert that takes place at a distance of 200 m in the other side of the river. At this distance and wearing earplugs the noise is deafening no way to sleep or at least relax a little. The receptionist told me that the so called concert will continue two more nights and they don't stop until the morning. Nobody warned me when weeks before I did the booking. I cannot believe how in a supposedly civilized society this atrocity is allowed to take place. If the authorities of Coimbra thing that this is the way to have fun they should not allow this hotel to work as if nothing is happening.

A typical Ibis in the layout of the room etc. reasonable price for what you get. Centrally located and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We were offered a choice of a room with a view which was going to be noisy or one at the back which was quieter. The breakfast had a very good choice of items. Would stay again.

Having stayed in the Ibis Coimbra several times before this was a disappointment. The room was comfortable but way too hot. The air conditioning did not work and we resorted to opening the window, which resulted in so much road noise that neither of us slept. Would think again now before staying.
