Third visit and extremely disappointed on this visit ... Extremely unfriendly check-in, food quality dreadful and certainly no longer upto what you would expect from Sofitel ...During our stay we asked the reception to pass on our concerns to the manager, we heard nothing . We staid 5 nights ... Some staff are still wonderful but can feel their concerns about the package holiday one night guests . Hopefully when the new Four Seasons Hotel opens in 2026 we will have a place in Luxor where we feel valued. Hugs

We were originally scheduled to stay here, but our tour company moved us across the river to the Djorff Palace, so full disclosure I can’t rate the rooms as we didn’t stay here, but we did come check it out, walked around, spent sone time at the bar and checked out the grounds and some shops. My overall impression was that I didn’t mind that we were moved. This is clearly a true 5-star hotel with all the amenities you’d expect, but it’s also obvious that it hasn’t been renovated or redecorated in maybe 40 years or so. Everything felt very dated, and very “British Empire” in a way that was honestly a bit uncomfortable. We took a look at the dining menu and passed on that. We went and hung out in the bar for a bit. The room was lovely. The drinks were okay. The service wasn’t great. Most of the employees didn’t seem to speak much English which made things a little difficult. They also didn’t seem to want to come back so we didn’t order anything else, even though I kind of wanted to, and eventually we closed our tab and left. The whole experience was a bit underwhelming and made me glad we weren’t staying there after all. That said, the gardens in the back are truly gorgeous. Even if you aren’t staying here, it’s worth it to go take a look and walk around the gardens!

This is a review of the Pavilion Winter Palace, which is the newer building in the Winter Palace Hotel complex. We spent five nights at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The rooms are well-appointed, breakfast is excellent and the grounds are beautiful. The location is ideal — in the center of town, across the street from the Nile, and within a short walking distance from the Luxor Temple.
