Beauty And Old-School Glamour

I felt like I was in an old black and white movie - not that things were B&W, but rather The Grand Hotel Cabourg has that glamour that is sometimes missing nowadays. The halls are lined with pictures of the many stars and important people that have stayed here over the years. It was truly fascinating. I had been told by my travel agent that we were being upgraded. I thought that meant a sea view. I did not. Instead we had a family room. It was huge! The furnishings were those you might see in a Hepburn/Bogey movie, or a Busby Berkley musical. The view from our window was of the village and a lovely carousel right in front of the hotel. And, besides all that, they also have terrific restaurants. The first night we ate in one right on the boardwalk just in back of the hotel. The food was delicious, and we watched a beautiful sunset over the Channel as we ate. The Grand Hotel is very convenient for walks both on the boardwalk/beach and in town. I had the best Ice cream ever from a place on the street leading right from the main entrance of the Grand Hotel. There also is a casino, but we did not partake.

Beautiful hotel on the sea we had a balcony sea view room that had amazing views worth every penny clean rooms - valet was quick , front desk friendly and helpful as was the concierge who helped with planning our days there with tips on D Day beach visits , cider trail and visiting a local Saturday market. Many restaurant choices and cute shops steps from the hotel would love to come back to this gem in the summer. Thanks for the memories!

Not worth the money or wait time

The rooms were great if you have a sea view. Really beautiful in the morning and afternoon. We wanted an easy meal so we went to the hotel bar. Waited half an hour before we were asked for drinks, no drinks menu offered, we had to ask for it and then another 20 minutes to get our drinks - a glass of cocktail and a bottle of wine. Only brought out one glass so asked for another as I was there with my husband. We ordered the food - dozen oysters, cheese platter and fries. An hour later the food arrived minus the chips. We had to ask for the chips 10 minutes later as they had not brought them out. No apology or anything said from the waiter. When we went to pay, not a single thank you for being patient or tolerant of their uselessness. Not even a thanks for dining. It cost us 130 euros for rubbish food and even worse service. So disappointing and will never eat there again. It would have been better to eat at the many restaurants in the village.

Room 108 - facing front of hotel. King size bed and pillows very comfortable. Mini bar with complimentary water. Toilet is separate from the shower and sink. Not much storage space. Closet but no drawers. Robe and slippers provided. Breakfast buffet good; can order cappuccino, etc. and eggs.
