Novotel made our first Christmas away from family truly memorable. Despite the busy check-ins on Christmas Day, the staff ensured a smooth and stress-free arrival, even providing our room ahead of time. The kids’ activities, like writing letters to Santa and the Christmas movie night with popcorn and juice, were a lovely touch. We were welcomed with red wine and a beautiful Christmas cake, adding a festive touch. The breakfast buffet, with rice included, was a surprise and a plus factor for me. The hotel’s interior design, especially the lobby and lighting, is impressive, and the tennis court was a great bonus. Even with ongoing construction outside, we still had a stunning Harbour view. Overall, a perfect Christmas experience at Novotel.

Terrible experience

Cupboard under the TV was FILTHY will dust. I told reception who said sometime would come up to clean it, but no one did. First reception staff upon arrival was super friendly, but the one I made the complaint to was not nice at all. I asked to borrow scissors to cut an annoying label off my clothing and he acted like I'd asked to borrow his car. He DID let me borrow, but they were blunt and didn't do the job anyway. Back to the room, towels were hard and scratchy, pillows were HORRIBLE which caused me to wake up with a sore neck, and TV was not connected to services and I was told sometime was looking into it, but of course this meant I had no tv to watch during stay. Will NEVER come back. Disgusting and a terrible waste of money.

This was my first stay in Novotel Darling Harbour. The hotel is a little bit dated but very good location. Excellent restaurant & bar. Good variety of breakfast. Friendly & helpful staff. James from the Reception Desk got us settled in quickly. Will definitely stay again.

Walkable to Sydney attractions

We took the airport train to Central, then a tram for a few stops. We had to walk 3 blocks, uphill, which was hard with our suitcases. We arrived in time for happy hour, which indeed made me happy. The pizza and a glass of wine were a hit for this traveler. The room was very comfortable. There was a small refrigerator. This was the only hotel on our Australia trip where the clothes line over the tub actually worked. There was a clock radio on the tiny bedside table that had 2 USB ports, but they didn’t work very well. The room isn’t meant for someone working. There is no desk, just a small table with no nearby plug. Overall, a shortage of adequate outlets. There is a beautiful view of the harbor from the restaurant and bars. There are many outside restaurants a short walk over a bridge, You can also catch a ferry to many of the other wharfs along Sydney Harbor. Breakfast was included in our rate, and it was a very substantial buffet. Something for all cultures.
