Nice hotel with spacious rooms, beautiful breakfast buffet and good location. Stayed for two nights and found it good. Staff was pleasant. Carpet in room was very dirty Robes are old and worn with somewhat aged appearance. Did not appear fresh enough to wear. Also had a room on floor two facing the main Street and found it incredibly noisy during the night. Public areas are really lovely. Enjoyed my stay. Would recommend. Nice but not exceptional.

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever lodged in. The rooms were very worn, the carpet was filthy. Do not stay here!

This is one of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms need a complete overhaul. It is a tourist hotel with large groups. The food and service are weak. The carpets are filthy. The hotel ran out of napkins, hand towels and basic amenities that one would find at a Motel 6. This is not a 4star property. Save yourself do not stay at this property!

Excellent hotel on all levels. Friendly staff, great breakfast, elegant bar, beautiful room with ensuite bath and shower and separate toilet. High end toiletries and variety of useful beauty items I.e. nail file, q tips, cotton wool pads. Room fridge supplied with sparkling water and still. Big enough to store juice and our own drinks. Definitely would recommend.

Abysmal Management

My husband, young daughter and I have just returned from a week’s stay at this hotel in Aix. On the surface, it all appears very promising; great location, pool and restaurant on premises and mere minutes from the Musée Granet as well as an underground car park which may be booked in advance. Upon checking in after a short drive from MRS, we were told that the family room with a pool view we had booked on the Accor app didn’t exist at this hotel. Not an auspicious start but we were keen to get settled in as it was late in the evening. When we got to the room, we were greeted with a view of the roundabout behind the hotel and not quite the pool view advertised. The shower in the en suite bathroom didn’t drain properly and it was difficult to take one without flooding the bathroom. The next morning we brought this to the attention of the duty manager, Mehdi el Hamri, who agreed to move us to a pool side room but neglected to mention that instead of the king size bed we had booked we would now have a room with twin beds which would be pushed together. The mattresses weren’t zipped together which meant that the gap was evident and extremely uncomfortable for our little one. The room was clearly designed for two occupants, not three. The bathroom had a mouldy patch on the wooden sink unit that my husband and I both noticed when we first arrived but chose to ignore as, at that point, we simply wanted to get on with our holiday. We had plenty of activities and excursions booked so we chose to focus on those and ignore the growing list of shortcomings at the hotel. Housekeeping at this hotel is dubious at best. During the week we spent here, they forgot on several occasions to replenish the water unless asked, refill the almost empty bottle of hand soap, clear the used glasses and replace them. They also neglected to leave enough bath towels for the three of us on a daily basis. I had to call reception almost every evening after a day of sightseeing to replenish yet another item housekeeping had forgotten about. All small niggles and easily addressed but the fact that there was something every single day was annoying to say the least when it’s a hotel that claims to have four stars to its name. We had dinner twice in the restaurant and whilst the staff were lovely the menu was somewhat lacklustre and flavour free. At the pool, Simon deliberately ignored the two non French families when offering the poolside menu. We were one of them. When I brought this up with Mehdi he assured me he would have a word with Simon. The cherry on the cake was at check out earlier today. We were pulled to one side by the duty manager, Christine Duarte, who advised us we had damaged the room and would have to pay. When we enquired exactly what was supposed to have been damaged she showed us a photo of the damp patch in the bathroom that we had noticed upon arriving at the room. She told us she had been told by her manager Mehdi to charge us for the “damage” to the bathroom. I suspect the member of housekeeping staff we had complained about had chosen to blame the months old damp patch on us as retaliation for getting her into trouble with the duty manager for forgetting numerous items on a daily basis. What I cannot fathom is how they justified adding the cost of the so called “damage” to our bill without even discussing it with us once as acceptable protocol for an Accor hotel. They claimed to have called us twice in the room; we were in the room on the days they claimed to have tried calling us and we had passed by reception numerous times every day so their claims are dubious at best and outright lies at worst. Their decision, without any discussion with us, to add the cost of the “damage” to our bill was both fraudulent and offensive. Needless to say, they managed to put a dampener on our last day in Aix and we will not be returning. The room with the damp in the bathroom is 237; my advice would be to take photos of any defects you encounter upon checking in. Otherwise, you too might find yourself being accused of causing “damage” to the property and being billed for it. A special thank you to Victor & Lucie, the two bright sparks in this awful place. They were courteous, professional and everything the rest of the staff should aspire to be. This hotel has all the raw ingredients to be a favourite for those looking to explore Provence from a well located base in Aix. Unfortunately, the staff lack basic training and management are incapable of, well, managing. The attempt to blame us for something that is a lack of basic maintenance on their part is simply audaciously fraudulent and in my many years of travelling I have never once come across such shoddy behaviour. I have reached out to the GM Elisabeth Mendes. It will be interesting to see whether she chooses to respond or not.
