Do your research before booking

We booked this place months ago and paid in full. I was very disappointed, the staff were great. Unfortunately, the room was no bigger than a shoe box, and th bathroom the size of a matchbox, talking to someone else on our cruise. Said that they stayed at another mercure and were dissatisfied with their accommodation as well. Please check the room m2 when researching your booking. As I am aware that they are old accommodation sized rooms for that erra of build. Our room would have been better suited as a 1 single bed room. Also discovered that the bed had a plastic lining sheet on the mattress, which answered why we woke up in a sweat each night.

Three star hotel at best

Unfortunately no where near four stars. The room was small and not the cleanest. There was no isolation from street noise. One could argue that these all are normal traits for a hotel in Paris, but in that case let’s at least be honest with the fact that it is a three star hotel at best

Some serious blind spots

I stayed at the Mercure Paris Opera for four nights in October 2024. The facility is not too bad. Rooms are small, but neat and tidy enough. Internal facing rooms are very quiet, so sleep quality is good. There are issues with the bathrooms (non-flushing toilets, water leaks etc). The main concern I have with this place is the staffing. In the first two days on four separate occasions, staff just walked into my room - no knock, just the door swinging open and someone was suddenly there for me. I find this incredibly uncomfortable. The cleaning staff would also block the only elevator for hours at a time, meaning a lot of walking up and down the stairs. Another huge gripe is the front door security. I got up early one morning for a job, and on returning back to the hotel, the front doors were locked. There is no key card access, you need to hit the intercom button and staff buzz you in...except that there was no one on front desk and I ended up locked out for almost 20 minutes! Such an odd approach for a Mercure Hotel. Overall, not a terrible stay, but there are some huge areas that need to be fixed.

We also apologize for the inconvenience with the elevator and security issues at the entrance. This is in no way a service that we wish to offer to our customers. We will take the necessary measures to ensure that this type of situation does not happen again and that access to the hotel is more fluid and secure. Your feedback is valuable, and we will do everything possible to improve these points and offer our future customers a more pleasant experience. The location is just perfect if you want to visit central Paris. You need to walk 25 minutes to reach Louver and park. Instead of using the tube, just walk and see many sightseeing. Cleanness is at high level. You don't regret if you book this hotel.

We first came to this hotel in 1964, on our honeymoon. We have returned on each of the major anniversaries. Five, ten, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, forty, fifty and now sixty years after our first visit. It has undergone a lot of changes in that period but every time we return if feels just like the first time that two 21 year old newly weds set foot inside. This visit was no different. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is great and the ladies who look after it are to be commended. Our room was lovely and was always very clean and tidy when we returned after a days exploring. This may be the last time we make it to The Monty, as we know it, but it is a place which is very dear to our hearts for the past 60 years. Thank you for all the happy memories and long may it continue.
