Some serious blind spots

I stayed at the Mercure Paris Opera for four nights in October 2024. The facility is not too bad. Rooms are small, but neat and tidy enough. Internal facing rooms are very quiet, so sleep quality is good. There are issues with the bathrooms (non-flushing toilets, water leaks etc). The main concern I have with this place is the staffing. In the first two days on four separate occasions, staff just walked into my room - no knock, just the door swinging open and someone was suddenly there for me. I find this incredibly uncomfortable. The cleaning staff would also block the only elevator for hours at a time, meaning a lot of walking up and down the stairs. Another huge gripe is the front door security. I got up early one morning for a job, and on returning back to the hotel, the front doors were locked. There is no key card access, you need to hit the intercom button and staff buzz you in...except that there was no one on front desk and I ended up locked out for almost 20 minutes! Such an odd approach for a Mercure Hotel. Overall, not a terrible stay, but there are some huge areas that need to be fixed.

We fully understand that the incident regarding entering your room without notice was uncomfortable, and we apologize for this inconvenience. We will convene our team to understand why this situation repeats itself several times, and reiterate the importance of respecting the privacy of our guests, as well as the need to knock before entering a room. We also apologize for the inconvenience with the elevator and security issues at the entrance. This is in no way a service that we wish to offer to our customers. We will take the necessary measures to ensure that this type of situation does not happen again and that access to the hotel is more fluid and secure. Your feedback is valuable, and we will do everything possible to improve these points and offer our future customers a more pleasant experience. The location is just perfect if you want to visit central Paris. You need to walk 25 minutes to reach Louver and park. Instead of using the tube, just walk and see many sightseeing. Cleanness is at high level. You don't regret if you book this hotel.

We first came to this hotel in 1964, on our honeymoon. We have returned on each of the major anniversaries. Five, ten, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, forty, fifty and now sixty years after our first visit. It has undergone a lot of changes in that period but every time we return if feels just like the first time that two 21 year old newly weds set foot inside. This visit was no different. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast is great and the ladies who look after it are to be commended. Our room was lovely and was always very clean and tidy when we returned after a days exploring. This may be the last time we make it to The Monty, as we know it, but it is a place which is very dear to our hearts for the past 60 years. Thank you for all the happy memories and long may it continue.

The location is great. It is close to nearby Metro stations, shops and restaurants. The only downside was the noise. I could hear people in the rooms next to me talking word for word, hearing every movement and ever sneeze, etc which was really frustrating as I have struggled to sleep because of it, which isn’t ideal during a holiday. The breakfast was lovely and had something for everyone. I also cannot fault the staff. The maids have been amazing, same goes with the staff working the breakfast and the reception.

The hotel was at a great location for us. Situated on a quiet street, but only 5 minutes away from great restaurants and cafes. The staff was so welcoming, polite, and helpful. The room (privilege) was perfect for our stay as it was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was just right and provided a good variety of cold and warm items. Many thanks to the attentive staff
