Enjoyable stay

OK the hotel doesn't look that amazing from the outside, but inside it is pleasant and welcoming. It has some quirks, for instance no actual reception desk so I asked someone who was studiously working on a laptop and it turned out they were checking people in! Also the 2 person lift is unusual in a family hotel! But, we found the rooms comfortable, even though we had some noisy kids staying in the room opposite. The restaurant was very good, good service, interesting menu. Bar was very good with a good selection of drinks, cocktails etc. The pool was excellent, we enjoyed using the pool and had a few drinks outside by the pool which was pleasant.. Breakfast was excellent, we enjoyed that. Staff were mostly very pleasant, all in all a nice stay that I would definitely consider again when in the area

Disgusting hotel

If i could give this hotel no stars i would! Disgusting hotel with unhelpful, and undertrained staff. Check in is at 2pm, we arrived at 3.50pm. Was told one room was ready and my son’s room wasn't. The receptionist gave us both room keys and said if we gave it half an hour the other room would be ready. So we went into our room and the smell was dreadful, we booked 2 superior rooms. It smelt unclean and of BO!! In further inspection we could see it was dirty (see photos of toilet and fan) We should have checked ourselves straight out and got a refund. However we were tired from travelling early. After half an hour we entered our son’s room. We were shocked and disgusted not only that it wasn't ready at 2.00pm but the state of the room!! (See photo's of room) It was stinking and yet again smelly! Don't be fooled by the glossy photos on the website, they are a lie. They are drab brown rooms with wall chip paper. On complaining to reception about the state of the rooms, she i know but didn't care at all about guests comfort. She was quite rude to be honest as if it was my fault! Booked breakfast but however was too nervous to eat from there, because it was so dirty. Had drinks in the bar but the glasses were stinking. Went out to MD for food as thought it be safer! DO NOT BOOK TO STAY HERE!

DO NOT STAY HERE. We booked via the Novotel main website. This is a disgrace to be called a Novotel. We have just spent two weeks travelling through France and Spain staying in several Novotel hotels (Barcelona was excellent) and were on our way back to Calais. We lasted approximately 5 mins in our room before handing in our keys and checking straight out. I wouldn’t have expected this substandard from an IBIS Budget. It was less than 2* quality. Basically a roadside motel in the wrong part of town with zero resemblance to the photos portrayed on the website. And to think I was fooled into spending more money online for “superior” rooms. I will be cancelling my all.com frequent user membership. I simply can’t trust another Novotel hotel ever again. €230 wasted. I’m currently driving to Calais with a car full of disgruntled children and wife for a re arranged 3am crossing

This Novotel does not have an "EXECUTIVE" room like other Novotels, which may explain your return and your dissatisfaction. The outside of the hotel is dirty and uninviting. The main sign hasn't been cleaned in months and the path to the main door is dangerous and impossible to wheel a suitcase over? A small thing but seriously! Inside the main areas were clean and the restaurant wasnt bad ) no beef or veal on the menu which as the first table on a Saturday evening was poor. The toilets near reception were filthy and they looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks, plaster coming off the walls in the cubicle and dirty walls. Such a difference from the restaurant and communal areas. A lift that could only take 2 people - again not a huge issue but as a family annoying. The staff were very pleasant but someone needs to look at it with fresh eyes and focus on the basics of the user experience.

I use Accor group because of their reputation. Le Mans needs a better housekeeper. Superior room had net curtains hanging off the rail in several places and the windows were filthy. No tissues first night and just enough shampoo in shower for one of us to use. The bathroom had the holes in the wall where the hooks should have been and there was no full length mirror. Restaurant ok...first time no hard copy menus...you had to use a QR code to find them...but they were written on blackboards if you did not have a smartphone and owing to the number of times I saw the boards being taken to tables, that encompassed a lot of people. Breakfast good in supplies, but lots of ingrained dirt round the coffe machine base...legacy of quick and not effective cleaning.
