The hotel is really charming and we'll located. However, we had some unexpected issues. Each night, we found one to three silverfish insects in the bathroom, ranging in size. This was concerning since silverfish can damage clothing and shouldn’t be present in a hotel of this level. We also found the elevator system confusing. It was difficult to figure out how to get between the lobby, restaurant floor, and spa, and we noticed other guests having the same trouble. There was such a long line at breakfast that I saw a couple just leave and go away hungry with their child. While the hotel has many positives, these issues were hard to overlook.

I've stayed at the Empress before and I don't know if someone was going on on the 4th floor but it was extremely noisy on my floor. I couldn't sleep both nights properly. The walls are very thin so I could hear guests all throughout the night, and staff was in the hallways very loud as well. It just took away from the experience. I thought the first night was a flook but it happened both nights. The room, and dining and location are fantastic and check-in/out is always so smooth so I was disheartened that I couldn't sleep properly with how noisy it was.

I had a disturbance at 1:30 in the morning.someone was pounding on my room door looking for a different guest. I thought you needed an elevator key to access my floor and my do not disturb sign was posted on my door. I should have called security.

First and foremost, the staff were wonderful. But unfortunately, the hotel was at over capacity when we checked in and we did not get our room for over an hour and a half, and we had an event that we needed to get ready for. We then also found the amenities such as the pool overrun and not clean to fairmont standards that we are used to. There are towels everywhere and garbage. Our room was missing a few things and we had to request them, which was fine. Then the shower handle kept on moving to the hot Level and Was scolded hot. When we informed maintenance we were told that they would come and service it. But then when I took a shower the next day, the same thing happened. We were just disappointed with the state of the room and the amenities because we had stayed at the fairmont before and are regulars patrons of The fairmont hotel chain. This was definitely not the standard that we are used to and the fairmont pride itself. Fortunately, We did write an email to the manager, and they provided prompt compensation.
