I had a good welcome and a lovely plate of strawberries and grapes awaiting me. Good room with a four poster bed. However the room was very overpriced at£192.00 for one night. Stay was overshadowed by the reluctance of the reception staff to help. I left my expensive electric toothbrush at your hotel and despite their promises to phone me back after I explained this situation during two telephone calls, this has not been done. The staff were curt and unhelpful and I have no hope of my property being returned to me

We booked a short break and due to illness we had to cancel at the last minute. Having rearranged another date we had to cancel a second time as my husband was taken to hospital. The hotel manager once again rearranged our stay and finally we managed our visit. I cannot believe how incredibly sympathetic and helpful the manager ( Anthony Hickman) was. The privilege room was really lovely and the view from the window of the cathedral was just wonderful . I have read the reviews which commented on this hotel being “ a little tired” and true some areas could do with a little refurbishment. However this did not detract from the fact that everywhere is impeccably clean and the food and service exceptionally good. The welcome treats were a super surprise and the staff extremely helpful in every way….a special thank you for Magdalena on reception and Michael who was so charming at breakfast. We will certainly be visiting again and will recommend to our friends .
