Disappointing and deceiving

Where do I start… I was travelling solo and wanted a day or R&R by the beach so I had the front desk manager at the hotel where I stayed in Santos call Hotel Jequitimar in advance the morning of to inquire about day passes and although we were told told the day pass was R$750 vs R$1075 for a room for the day (both options are for use between 10am and 6pm), everything changed when I got to Hotel Jequitimar. After going all the way there from Santos, I was told I had to book the day pass (R$750) at least one day advance. The front desk wouldn’t know how to explain the reason for this and told me I could only book the room for the day which to my surprise ended up being R$1400 instead of R$1100. That’s a very deceiving tactic to upsell to tourists! I decided to give it a try as I was already at the hotel anyway. Upon checking in, no instructions whatsoever were given to me, as hotels always do, as to where is your room (God forbid that you ask how to get to your room to anyone else than front desk), the main restaurant, and what is included in your “all inclusive” booking. Correct, it’s not actually all inclusive and I was going to get charged for coconut water I ordered by the beach that came in the coconut itself and read as “coconut water” on the menu. Besides that, the vast majority of the staff doesn’t speak English which makes for a very confusing and stressful experience. I would have to wait for a long time for someone on the beach to bring me a menu or take an order. Lunch was OK but the snacks mid-afternoon were disgusting to say the least. In the end, I ended up paying for an overpriced room/day pass that didn’t offer me a pleasant or relaxing experience at all. Never again! I plan on letting know all my network of international solo travellers to do go to this property

Our stay was terrible, very disappointed with the hotel and it was also very dangerous. I will be submitting a formal complaint.

Reinforcing the e-mail sent to you from our GM Mr. Pollak, we are extremely upset with all your bad experience you had in our Resort and neighborhood. After receiving your comments, we have shared them with our teams in order to prevent future occurrences. Regarding your comments about the Golf Club, we did not receive any complain about any of our guest going thru the same experience as some people related to you. We have already spoken with the director of the Golf Club bringing him all the points involving the Club. The car and the men who brought you to the hotel were from the security of the neighborhood. As said, we re-branded the Hotel Jequitimar almost two years ago and now it is a managed by Accor; but service must follow our standards no matter the quantity of clients. We are very sorry that food wasn’t at your level of expectation and neither out infrastructure with will be under renovation as soon as possible. Mr. Darren S., we at Accor Hotels look for the wellbeing of our clients and try to deliver the best experience that they can take for life. Unfortunately, it was not your case and I ask you to give to us another chance to prove we can do lot better whenever suitable to you as our invited guest. Employees are very polite and helpful. Room with problems, title near the bed was broken and all room floor stayed wet same after the cleaning. The smells wasn’t good.
