This hotel is a prestigious castle with a charming chalet vibe. It's easily accessible by car and located between Montreal and Ottawa. The room seems old but it has its charm with the ambiance reminding that of a cosy chalet away from the city. The room was in a very good condition. There are nice pathways along the river where you can enjoy walking. The service and the staff were excellent, available and eager to assist you. My soon to be wife was feeling that she was treated like a queen. You can eat dinner at the French style restaurant with elaborate menus with local ingredients combined with different flavors or enjoy room service breakfast. The only little issue was the online system did not work for room service but fortunately they brought the meals in a reasonable time. You can enjoy an Olympic size indoor pool or do a workout at the gym or spoil yourself and your loved one with a relaxing spa treatment. Overall this hotel is a perfect gateway to spend some quality good times with your other half.

The Good - beautiful log building and grounds - spa services were great - great service as usual at a Fairmont The Not so Good - rooms are a bit tired - towels and robes are terribly worn out. They are thin and don’t feel or smell very good - not much to do because summer activities were done and the winter activities hadn’t yet started

Amazing hotel surrounded by nature! All the services are included (swimming pool, bikes, mini golf, ping pong, tennis...). The hotel is on the lake, the rooms are a little bit old but very nice. Very close to the Omega Park that is recommended to see a lot of animals.

No view from our very small room! Despite paying for a view

We are on a tour of Iconic Fairmont hotels in the region and as part of that we are guaranteed a room with a view at each hotel. Apparently this doesn’t include this hotel as we were assigned a room immediately off the main lobby with no view at all despite there being rooms in this hotel with lovely views across the River Ottawa. I went back to the front desk and queried this and they just said you’ve got a renovated room and that is your upgrade and if we wanted a river view we’d have to pay extra. Why should we pay extra when this is the minimum we should expect! The hotel looks spectacular but unfortunately that’s where it ends. The hotel doesn’t care about customer service. The outdoor pool was closed throughout our stay despite beautiful weather as they can’t be bothered to pay for a lifeguard. Also no bar service outside on the terrace again despite beautiful weather. Cannot recommend this hotel despite the beautiful setting

We had booked château Montebello for a three night stay on our way to Mont Tremblant. I had printed out our booking confirmation from the Accor app. Upon check-in I confirmed the room we were assigned matched our booking confirmation. It did not. When I showed our confirmation to the agent at the check in counter, she took it back to who I am presuming would be the on duty manager. She confirmed that we were not given a newly renovated room, even though our confirmation clearly states newly renovated room. The on duty manager told her to tell us that it was the desk that was newly renovated not the room. I questioned that this seemed quite odd, and she didn’t know what to tell me other than what he told her. She advised that we would not be getting a newly renovated room, regardless of what our confirmation indicated. Upon arriving at our room, there was in fact no desk. There was a table, but not certainly what anyone would describe it as a desk. I went back to the check-in counter, to show them that not only was there no renovated desk. There was really no desk. I ended up having a conversation with the on duty manager and he apologized and went on to describe that there are 27 different types of rooms, and even though our confirmation clearly said, newly renovated, that’s not what we would be getting, and that was that(this was a lot of information that I’m not sure any guest needs to have a conversation about). Yes he said I’m sorry I said the desk was renovated, but there was nothing that anyone was going to do. So that was that. We ate in both restaurants and for almost $300 for a couple you would imagine a wonderful meal, and it was not. On our second night in Nymark, there was five children under six that just ran around and around and around and were yelling the entire time, and it really spoiled the meal for everyone else in the restaurant. But it seemed that nothing could be done to just quiet things down a little bit again while enjoying a $300 meal. The entire stay seemed like the hotel was 10% understaffed with the lobby, bartender being overwhelmed and waiting in line 20 minutes for a cocktail. This was just a forgettable stay, beginning with the check, in which still is astounding that the renovated room, as described in our confirmation was never offered to us. The time to solve this problem is when a customer is standing in front of you, not after a poor review on TripAdvisor.
