OK stay but hotel needs updating

This hotel was not as it looked in the photos online. The receptionist that greeted us was not very interested and just wanted to get us signed in and a key given to us. Felt very rushed. Our room was clean but looked very tired and really needed updating. The sheet on the bed had a hole in it , pillow case on inside out and no shower gel in the dispenser. The pillows were also not of a good quality at all and very thin, felt like sleeping flat. On the plus side the leisure facilities were good and included in our stay. We had breakfast here two days and the food was of a high standard as were the two ladies that were looking after the restaurant. The first night of our stay the noise level was ok but then the 2nd day it was not. The lobby was dressed for christmas and the tree looked good.

Quick smooth check in, no complaints friendly staff. Drop box for check out perfect hassle free procedure. Staff were attentive when I asked about room service and recommended sweet pot fries which were spot on.

Keri, Anelin & Iulia went above and beyond during our stay and are so grateful. We were joined for breakfast by some family friends not staying at the hotel to celebrate a birthday and the team couldn't have been more accommodating, thank you!

Absolutely terrible customer service from this hotel. Staying for business and the wifi does not reach half of the building and the phone signal is poor in general. Asked to move rooms on three separate days, denied due to the typical ‘fully booked’ tale, meaning confidential work had to be done in the reception. Do not stay at this hotel for business. I will be ensuring this hotel is removed from my national employers list of available hotels. Also pool use not inclusive to booking, £10 is steep to use the pool! Hotel room itself is tired and shabby, holes in the towel, broken fan, bathroom mould. No air con so the rooms are boiling and no fridge. A shame as I have had no problems with mercure before.

The pool access fee, we recognise that it may not meet everyone's expectations, and we appreciate your perspective on this matter.
