Small hotel in quiet neighborhood but walking distance to city center and Little Tokyo, good enough for a weekend

Small boutique hotel with low ceilings. In the beginning our keys didn't work, but they fixed that immediately, but unfortunately we didn't get rooms next to each other, but in the same corridor. The elevator only fits 3 persons or 2 if you have suitcases. There is no parking but in the weekend you can get free parking outside and during the week you need to find a garage in the neighborhood. We had marihuana smell in the corridor of the 2nd floor, luckily the smell wouldn't get into our rooms. In 1 of our rooms the aircon wasn't as strong as the other and there would sometimes be a sewer smell coming from the bathroom. They have Japanese toilets, so that's a plus. The space seems OK, rooms are small but clean (and housekeeping comes every day). We stayed 3 nights, the sheets weren't changed, they only made the beds. You'll get a bottle of water every day and there was an apple in the room (the lobby provides some more water, fruit and nuts). The room had nice new looking furniture, but there was a creepy picture on the walls. We had twin beds with firm mattrasses and 2 sorts of pillows, we slept very well. The bathroom has no hooks to hang your clothes or towels and I felt like we needed more light above the sink (the makeup mirror light didn't work). There is a full length mirror in the hallway where you enter, but that place also provides the mini bar and your clothes closet, so you can't really see much as the light is dim there. The water pressure was low in the shower and the tiles have a sort of marbling that makes them look dirty even though it was clean. Our window looked out on some sort of fire escape stairs and apartments, so not much privacy if you open curtains. It did give some shade during the heatwave. Rooms also seemed soundproof, unless housekeeping is loud in the morning. The shades are not darkening.

We found ourselves in need of a hotel unexpectedly and found the Muze Hotel and based on the reviews, we decided to book it. We booked a superior room. We would have preferred a slightly bigger room but this was the largest available. The room was very small and I had no place to put my luggage but the room was very clean and we figured it out. It was very warm in the room and no matter how low we put the temp so that the heat would not come on, it didn’t work so we had to keep the window open a bit overnight and that helped tremendously. The shower didn’t have a door so it did get wet outside the shower but it wasn’t terrible. And like most European hotels, no washcloths are provided. Bed was comfortable but the pillows were not so great. We also paid for breakfast , when we made the reservation. Breakfast was good but the coffee machine only worked sometimes. The attendant on the weekdays did not speak any English but thankfully, my husband speaks German. He was also very unfriendly. I did find the rest of the staff to be extremely friendly. On the weekend, there was a second attendant who spoke English and was much nicer to deal with. It was worth it to us to have breakfast at the hotel rather than having to go elsewhere. It is a short walk to the Old Town and to the Konigsallee (Kö). And public transport is close by and we pre purchased a multiday ticket and it worked well. We were able to preselect the dates that we needed for the ticket to be valid. Right next door is a bar/restaurant, Hirschchen. We didn’t eat there but we did stop for a nightcap on a few nights and it was very convenient to have it right next door. One thing that I was not happy about is we had to leave for the airport at 6 AM on a Sunday. We made it a point to ask if that would present any issues and the person told us that they had someone there 24 hours. So we go downstairs to check out and no one is there. Tried to ring the bell on the desk and it didn’t work. So we left a note on the desk with our key. We had arranged for Uber and it pulled up and we went to exit and the front door was locked and we couldn’t get out. We started knocking on office doors and calling out and finally someone heard us and let us out. It was an uncomfortable feeling to be trapped in the hotel and unable to exit. I would not have expected that since we made it a point to let them know the night before that we were checking out early. Overall, if you are ok with a small clean room in a good location, then I would recommend this hotel.

Highly recommended design hotel with a lovely mid-century modern inspired interior.

The room was the same as the online photos, it was quiet and clean with a very comfortable king size bed (180cm / 71 inces wide) and the bathroom even had a Japanese style toilet (with water spray) and a heated seat. The large room has a bath/shower combination, other rooms have shower. Breakfast was a very tasty buffet with a range of bread, meats and cheese, cereals, fruit, vegan options, fresh juices, and coffee / tea. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The air-conditioning in our room was ok but had difficulty cooling on warm summer days (+25°C / 77°F). Secure parking is a 5-minute walk and costs €18/day. It’s a 15-minute walk through a nice park to the old town or a 5–10-minute walk to the main shopping street. For a good German beer and meal try Hirschchen, the restaurant next door.

I am in Düsseldorf quite often and last time I tried this hotel different from the usual German hotel chains.. it is also a small 7 hotel chain with a very accurate and cute hospitality. Comfortable, elegant, vintage style with young friendly staff, good fresh breakfast and clean room. I will be back for sure! Very good also in terms of location.

Booked a 2 night stay at the hotel. Upon arrival we were told that our reservation was canceled by mistake and the hotel was fully booked for the first night. After a 1,5 hour wait we were told that we could spend the first night at an Inn which was a 12 minute walk from the hotel, the second night we stayed at Muze. 1,5 week after the stay I am still waiting for the refund of the Inn, which we had to pay upfront. Poor customer service from Muze
