Saat itu suasana resepsionis sedang ramai karena kebanyakan orang yg mengikuti konferens datang bersamaan. Saat itu antrian yg seharusnya 1 garis, ketika didepan bercabang 3, tiba2 sudah bercabang sejak awal saya datang. Melihat resepsionis sangat ramai, yang saya lakukan adalah antri di antrian yg bertuliskan Welcome Priority untuk member Accor. Yang terjadi adalah bapak tua didepan saya dilayani, ketika giliran saya, saya ditolak antri dibarisan resepsionis tersebut dan saya disuruh antri di antrian tengah. Jadi saya merasa kali ini member accor + explorer platinum saya sia - sia tidak berguna. Saya member platinum, antri di antrian yg resepsionisnya ada tulisan Welcome Priotity, tp malah diusir. Bayangkan saja jengkelnya apalagi perjalanan jauh. Berikutnya kamar sangat amat kecil, saya tidak bisa mendeskripsikan betapa menyedihkannya luas kamar ini. Sarapan pun menjadi tidak nyaman karena restock makanan sangat lama dan terkesan tidak bisa menghandle banyaknya tamu tiba2, apalagi semuanya kebanyakan mau ke konferes yang sama. Bingung sekali saya dengan menginap kemarin di hotel ini. Padahal di Jepang dan hotel Accor tp saya sampai tidak bisa berkata kata kembali Dan saya sudah melayangkan email komplain ke alamat email hotel dan juga accor. Pihak hotel menurut saya sangat lama dalam menjawab email keluhan saya. Dan memang dasarnya mereka tidak niat, karena isi email balasan ada template yg seharusnya diisi dengan action menyelesaikan problem keluhan ini bagaimana, untuk menyelesaikan masalahnya saja mereka tidak niatan sedikitpun. Niat saja tidak ada apalagi niatan baik. Dengan email template itu saya benar - benar merasa amat tersinggung, seakan akan bahwa kirim balasan email, asal saja cukup karena yg baca orang Indonesia yg tidak akan mengerti

I Expected Better from Ibis — Especially in Japan!

This was my 2nd stay at Ibis Kyoto Shijo in six months, and unfortunately, this visit has been disappointing in terms of cleanliness and service. The room was dusty, and the carpet didn’t appear to have been vacuumed properly. This time, the bathroom had a strong, moldy odor that never went away, even after leaving the fan on 24/7. Basic amenities like slippers (which are standard in Japan) were missing from the room. To make things worse, when I misplaced one of the two key cards, the front desk wanted to charge 1,000 yen (about $7.50) for a replacement — something I’ve never experienced at other hotels. (I worked for the different brands for many years and never charged a cent to the guest who lost the key card. The only thing they needed to do was to show their ID to prove that they were staying with us.) I’ve always recommended the Ibis brand to friends because of the consistently good service and facilities I’ve experienced in Europe. However, this particular property in Japan — of all places — did not meet the same standards. I’m not sure which company manages this hotel, but they are certainly not maintaining the quality and reputation that guests expect from Ibis.

Extremely disappointed in our stay at Ibis Styles Kyoto Shijo, it’s not that I am expecting too much from an Ibis Styles in Japan, as we stayed in both Ibis Styles Tokyo Ginza and Ibis Styles Tokyo Ginza East which we “loved” compared to this Ibis Styles. And here is why, started with rude staff. The Hotel sells, Daily Bus and Subway ticket travel cards, which is handy at 1,100 Yen. But only sold Adult Cards and the staff member tried to tell me there are no Children tickets. Only offering me two Adult tickets for the kids. Firstly, the Hotel should be more family friendly and have Kids tickets, secondly if they don’t them they should tell customers the truth “You can buy them off any bus driver for 550 Yen” half the price of the adult tickets. Solid Wifi Toiletries only available downstairs, not that bad once you realize, annoying the first time you get to the room and there’s nothing there. No issue with the approach, would be good if the staff (stopped being so short and shrift) said ‘Please grab any toiletries from next to the lift before you go up” Really poor Water pressure, in both rooms, even after changing the nosil to every possible setting. The 2nd room’s Air con broke, so when we came back from walking in the 30C hear all day, it was like a sauna. Staff was prompt to fix the issue. As Gold member was put on the 3rd floor which we found noisy, but that happens. One Positive was the size of the bed, though room itself was small, much smaller compared to Ibis Styles Tokyo rooms! Location is a decent walk from the subway, but good bus stops in both directions nearby. No cold water which is needed in Japan in September and readily available in most other hotels including Ibis styles. No drinks for Accor Plus members which can be found at both Ibis Styles in Ginza, Tokyo. A truly disappointing stay in an amazing city.

Great location. Short walk from the train station. Close to many restaurants. The service is exceptional and people at the reception do speak English. The rooms are a bit small though but the reception area is quite spacious.

Excellent choice for exploring Kyoto and surroundings. Centrally situated, close to Shijo Station, walking distance to Nishiki Market, Gion. 2 station away from Kyoto Central Station, 15-20 minute walk to Nijo Castle. Lots of shops, restaurants, bus or train stations in vicinity. The hotel itself is all you need. Rooms are comfy and quite ok in size by Japanese standards (18sqm), affordable prices, washing and vending machines, the only downsize is the total lack of tv channels in other languages. We will definitely consider this hotel again for a future visit to Kyoto.
