Small basic rooms, but good location

Mixed feelings on our family’s stay. Firstly, the positives… 1. It’s located right across the street from the Kyoto train station, which is great for both accessibility and food, as there are many good options within the train station. There is a 7eleven within 30s walk and it’s also a short walk (6-7 mins) from Aeon Mall. 2. As an Accor member, there were free drinks at the reception area (eg. coffee, hot chocolate etc). 3. WiFi was solid throughout our stay. The negatives… 1. Appreciate that ibis is not intended as a luxury brand, but the hotel was very basic for the price paid. 2. Room was very small, our family was stumbling over each other every day due to limited space. 3. Other than shower gel/shampoo. Amenities need to be collected from the boxes at reception. 4. Cleaner didn’t top up tissue on second day. When we asked for more, we were told it’s not possible as room service is provided by a 3rd party. Overall mixed feelings.

We stayed at IBIS Styles Kyoto Station for a couple of days, and its location could not be better—it’s right across the street from Kyoto Station, making it incredibly convenient. The room was clean and came with a hot pot and a small fridge. There are three room sizes: 11, 14, and 17 m² (possibly more types). A microwave as well as an ice machine is available in the lobby. While tea bags are provided as a free amenity, coffee is not—there are no complimentary pouches, and guests must purchase coffee from a machine for JPY 300 per cup. Other free amenities, such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and combs, can be picked up at the lobby. According to the hotel's information sheet, rooms are cleaned every third day, but fresh towels were provided daily. The only downside to our stay was an issue with our reservation and the front desk staff. When booking, we were promised a room upgrade, but upon check-in, the staff told us that all rooms were the same size and an upgrade was not possible. After some back-and-forth, we eventually received the upgrade, but we felt misled, which was disappointing and cost the hotel a star in our rating. Overall, it was a nice stay, with the biggest highlight being the hotel's unbeatable proximity to Kyoto Station.

The hotel is very well located. the rooms and public areas are tired and feel a bit grubby. The room was extremely uncomfortable . access to the bed only from one side with a gap to the wall of 30 centimetres. Making it very tricky to access the bed. The staff were helpful and polite.

This hotel should be a hostel, the room I stayed in wasn't the cleanest, in fact I complained about three of the same pieces of dirt on the wall, they cleaned one! The breakfast is overpriced @¥2,200, utter madness. Oh and there's no stair escape exit, fire hazard!

Outstanding service by the front office manager. The room is bigger than the ones we stayed at Osaka and Tokyo. It is value for money. It is located right in front of JR Kyoto Train Station. The room is very clean and there’s a mall located 5 mins away.
