I simply love the concept of 21c Museum Hotels!

I loved MOST of my stay at 21c Museum hotel in Bentonville: The beautiful art that graced the lobby area and guest room spaces, the whimsical penguins placed strategically and surprisingly throughout the hotel, the warm and friendliness of the staff. Having the night cap offered was a nice touch, and having to travel alone, the bar area and restaurant were a welcome amenity. The room and bed were well appointed and very comfortable, and the housekeeping service five star. My only two complaints were the following: I had specifically asked for a room away from the elevators and top floor preferred (i.e., quiet). I checked, and it was on the reservation form I submitted. When I checked in, however, they put me in a room just two doors from the elevator and on the second floor - basically the first floor of guest rooms. Because there was a big wedding going on that weekend, I knew the elevators were going to be noisy, early and late. So I had to shlep down to the front desk and ask for a different room. The next room was perfect; it was on the fourth (highest) floor, and at the end of the hall in the corner. I did appreciate how they accommodated me, but why not give me this room in the first place?. The second issue I had was breakfast in the hotel. When I showed up I waited a very long time to get an order in, then I watched as others came in, ordered, and got their meals before I did. I asked the staff about this, and they said they were short-handed due to someone calling in sick. It just seemed so disorganized. After 45 minutes I finally got my breakfast, but by then I had to wolf it down, as I had only 10 minutes left before I had to leave for a meeting. I feel like they should have figured out a better way to serve their customers, even with the short staffing problem. Needless to say, I refused to eat breakfast there again. I did have dinner one night, and Andrew, my waitperson, was a delight! Location is wonderful - walking distance to the main town square and restaurants, shops, the WalMart Museum, and the Crystal Bridges Art Walk and Park, and Museum. I've stayed in the Bentonville and Louisville 21c hotels, and would like to visit all of them!

This place is top notch! We were greated by a young man who genuinely wanted to know our story and why we had come there. He knew immediately when we said we were Kentuckians that 21c was conceived there! He offered us a cocktail coupon due to parking issues (not their fault) and we enjoyed this before we headed to dinner. The only reason for a 4 star is that we had the complete opposite checkout experience. As I approached the counter, the young woman said “Room number”. I told her. She then said “print or email copy?” I said email. She confirmed my email and she said “OK” and went on with her business - seriously looked down at whatever she was doing beforehand. No have a good day or thank you. My sister and I just looked at each other in disbelief. It was a stunning ending to an almost perfect stay.

Art paradise stay.
