Flooded room, incorrect bar bill charged to room.room

Room 126 had a damp smell on arrival. After showering and returning to the room 4 hours later, the carpeted area was soaked. General manager gave me a towel to soak up water and said it was wear and tear. Apparently it happens with the bath/shower drainage???? He told me he would check to see if we could change rooms. In the morning the whole carpeted area was wet, this made the tiled areas very sloppy and towel on floor looked filthy!!! My husband organic a changed room early next day. We were staying at this hotel for a family wake. On our return from the wake, someone had charged drinks from the bar to one of the rooms booked (7 rooms in total booked). No signature is required when charging anything to a room number, so anyone can do this. No one from our family was on the hotel premises on the date/time these drinks were charged. When speaking with Daniel Stewart, General Manager, about these 2 problems, he was just not interested. I couldn’t believe his attitude and customer service.

Nice hotel in a good location. Warm welcome at reception. Room was great - Comfortable bed and nicely decorated with a good bathroom and excellent shower. Only issue is the bathroom door didn’t close properly. Only one of the two lifts were working and the other one broke down twice during our one night stay resulting in two climbs up 3 flights of stairs to the top floor. The swimming pool and spa were nice and the changing rooms were cleaned frequently and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Breakfast left a lot to be desired... A buffet breakfast that was obviously cooked first thing in the morning and left under hot plates. By 9am, the bacon was like leather and all of the hot food was lukewarm. The eggs (your way) were fried and congealed or go without. The pastries didn't taste fresh and could have been out on their second or third outing to the breakfast buffet. We are not fussy eaters - but the quality of food for a 4 star hotel was poor. That said - we enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return. Maybe just skip breakfast next time!

The wife and I stayed for one night at this hotel in July. We would gladly stay again. The hotel is very well located, 5 minutes to walk into town and about 10mins to walk to the train station. All staff we encountered were polite and friendly. Rooms were clean, a good size and well equipped with mini fridge, Air Con, tea and coffee making facilities and good quality toiletries. Bed was very comfortable too. We made use to the fitness centre. Gym although on the smaller size was very well equipped with a good range of machines and free weights. Pool was very clean too. We didn’t eat at the hotel but the evening menus looked good and reasonably priced. As it was only 5 minutes to walk into town we opted to eat out. On check in we were made to pay a £50 deposit, It may have been in the Ts and Cs when booking, but took me by surprise. I’ve stayed in many hotels, from budget options to high end, and this is the first time I have ever been asked to do this. I understand why hotels would require this but it made me feel Like I was being judged as someone not to be trusted. That said I would gladly stay again.
