r. service prompt but no face washers any day and the bath towels were clean but very old and freyed. Was disappointed that it was Ramadan and the evening meal didn’t suit us to have and the only other option was for r. service. Unfortunate timing I guess. The beach had the open drains running into it . Not much shade or umbrellas at the beach or the pool area. Sorry but won’t be returning. Your facility should be only three star at best.

Handy to Georgetown with lovely sea views

We had a sizeable, clean and comfortable room on the top floor. The view was stunning. Breakfast was excellent (it was better than the Novotel in KL), with the best hotel coffee of our trip so far. It's great to see the filtered drinking water taps in the rooms, rather than a reliance on plastic bottles. The pool was lovely and had shade for most of the day. The only criticism was the lack of a la carte dining at dinner time. As it is Ramadan the only option was a buffet in the evening. The buffet was quite expensive and there was no option to use our Accor Plus dining discount for the buffet, which was very disappointing. I would recommend the hotel retains an a la carte option for guests who do not want a buffet every night, or at least consider honouring the Accor Plus discount. If it wasn't for this my score would be 9/10. Our next stay was at Angsana in Penang and their Ramadan buffet to honour the Accor Plus discount.

Good stay but could be better next time for the services

A good returning stays this trip. Stayed at Mercure Penang Beach for 2 nights. I have enjoyed complementary Suite room upgrades upon check in as an ALL Diamond member. The room was spacious with beautiful seaview from the windows. Rooms are clean and comfortable. However, the welcome amenities are missing this round of stay. Breakfast is average to worse as the taste is below the expected local taste. I suspected the food is prepared by foreigner and it is not up to the local standard taste. Overall, a good stay and will consider Mercure Penang Beach for my next trip to Penang.

Well located but dissatisfactory services

Bed sheets had ants and beg bugs, no water bottle provided (even in a glass one), water flow of the drinking tap was too slow and inconvenient. Restaurant didn’t serve food even when we reached at 9pm.
