Let me be clear: the staff at Mövenpick Nairobi are amazing — warm, hardworking, and doing their best with what they have. This review is not about them. It’s about the condition of the hotel and the misleading marketing from ownership. The property is nowhere near 5-star quality. The facilities are run down, dark, and outdated. My bathroom had visible mold, which is not a housekeeping issue — it’s poor infrastructure. The lighting is dim throughout the room, and the décor feels more like a budget motel than a luxury hotel. I ordered room service and had to call back just to get cutlery, napkins, and even a drinking glass. These are basic things that should come without asking. The food quality also varied wildly from one order to the next — completely inconsistent. Just because the hotel is in Westlands, a prime location, doesn’t justify the high prices or the misleading online photos. The rooms look nothing like what’s shown on the website — far darker, smaller, and gloomier in reality. Frankly, I counted down the days to leave. For the amount I paid, I should’ve stayed elsewhere — and I won’t make that mistake again. The owners should be ashamed of what they’re passing off as a 5-star experience. The staff deserve better. So do the guests. Let me know if you’d like a shorter version for Booking.com or a follow-up note to send to the hotel directly.
