Had a great experience at Movenpick Jumeirah Beach with my wife. Staff was exceptionally helpful and the towel animals were a nice touch by our housekeeper Sohel. Location is great, with the beach in walking distance and plenty of restaurants around.

I was not planning to write a review, but tonight’s phone call from the hotel at 10:00 PM my time woke me up and forced me to do so. At the beginning of December, I booked two Deluxe rooms at this hotel for my parents and my son (2 adults and 1 child) and paid 100% of the cost in advance, including the early check-in. On December 8, after receiving confirmation of full payment from the hotel, I sent an email requesting connecting rooms, one with twin beds and the other with a king-size bed, clearly stating that the rooms would be occupied by my parents and my son. Magdi Abdelhafiz from the hotel replied that he would try to arrange this and never mentioned that my family would not be allowed to check in without me present. As a result, at 8:00 AM on December 29 my mother messaged me from the hotel reception saying they were not being checked in without me. I then received a call from the hotel asking me to come in person. Fortunately, I was in Dubai at that moment and arrived at the hotel within 30 minutes. When I asked why I had not been informed in advance that my relatives would not be allowed to check in without me, I received an unclear and unconvincing explanation. This is especially strange considering the stay had been fully prepaid. After that, everything went fine: I paid the deposit and my family was checked in. Today was the check-out day. In the morning, my mother sent me the bills from the hotel and said that all charges looked correct, except for an additional AED 2,500, the origin of which no one could explain. I told her not to worry and simply pay, assuming the hotel could not be wrong. All bills were paid, I ordered a taxi for my parents at 12:00 local time, and they left for the airport. Nine hours later (!), I was woken up by a call from the hotel saying that my family had not paid for the minibar. I would like to ask: how can you provide service to guests with this approach? Where is your management looking? Why not at least send an email? Why call so late over something as minor as a minibar charge? Why was it impossible to inform me in advance that my relatives (who share the same last name as me) would not be allowed to check in without my presence, despite full prepayment? Why couldn’t you simply request my details remotely? This is unacceptable. That is why you get two stars. This is your maximum.
