Trendy but not practical

A review I'd personal, and having traveled the world ( pleasure and business), I think I kinda learned what works and what doesn't. This is not a " bad " hotel, but in Japan most rooms are kinda small. So being practical is important: here the rooms are not so: nice bathroom but there's a light shining right into your face ( no cannot turn it.off). Traveling with a large suitcase? Hope you are good in improvisation. But I am used to it: your stay depends on the staff and here they are young and trendy. Nothing wrong with it but when you ask them something, I kinda got the " deer in the headlight" look followed by ( not kidding) a very deep disapproving look and sigh. Eventhough being a loyal Accor member, I will find another hotel here on.my next stay.

Far from station, long queue at check in. Many tour groups with not queuing order. Noisy and disorganized! The Japanese GM is so damn rude! No respect for customer when feedback the shortcomings of hotel. Just black face and walk off. OMG! I have complained to accor

Absolutely impressed by this hotel. The room had a cosy vibe and was modern, clean and comfortable. Walking distance to restaurants and short taxi ride to Kyoto’s centre. Would stay here again.

Messy and chaotic

It is so far from station, no facilities available. Always crowded with tour groups. Breakfast needs to queue. Long waiting time for minor arrangement at front desk. No managerial personnel around. Seems to be lack of management.

Had one of the best stays during my Japan trip in Mercure. The hotel is an experience in itself with carefully curated theme and a scent welcoming you from the reception until your room. Treated us well being an Accor member and would definitely suggest this place to anyone staying in Kyoto. A class apart.
