This hotel could be so much better but our room was not clean and the bathroom was scruffy and dirty. We ate dinner in the hotel restaurant “The Boardwalk” food was not good in evening but service was OK — either way it was 100% better than the breakfast which was poor quality food and the custom service non existent. There’s not much choice on Magnetic island regarding hotels, it’s easy to do the island on a day trip from Townsville via ferry.

3 bedroom apartment - main ac dirty. Sofa old and had a large hole in it. 3rd bedroom didn’t have ac! Pool is lovely. No elevator had to lug heavy luggage up 4 flights of stairs. Restaurant brekky and lunch ok but sort the dinner menu out please! We had to buy several dishes just to get a decent feed. I know you need to have some fancy dishes for the tourists but some basics would be great too! Bit of money spent on a refresh and staff processes review would do the world of good

We went for dinner this evening . I am the type who never leaves bad reviews but I want to in this case . The welcome there from the lady at reception was good and warm but the barman made me wait ages when I had to order my food at the bar as they wouldn't do waiter service for ppl sitting outside and we wanted to sit outside. My dressed crab was absolutely the worst seafood dish I've ever had . A tiny flavourless crab covered in hard battered breadcrumbs...zero crab flavour and texture whatsoever. The glass noodle salad was very small and hardly any herbs or spices or flavour to it either . So disappointed for the price I paid . I expected a delicious fresh meaty crab taste and that exquisite crab texture and delicious dressing . But it arrived hard and breadcrumbed . The Pina colada I ordered was mostly ice and had zero flavour to it ...and it was thin and watery . I was so looking forward to a delicious creamy flavourful coconutty Pina colada cocktail with that yummy rum and cream taste and texture ! So disappointing . The island here is astonishing and tropical and beautiful and the architecture and design of Peppers is wonderful and its swimming pool is exquisite. But the food is awful . My friends were also disappointed with theirs - one of them ordered calamari as a main dish and the portion was tiny , and my other friend had dhal which she said had no spices or flavour at all . The waitress was lovely and cheerful though so that's a star for her .
