The late check-in and early check-out processes were a breeze, the hotel is in a great location, and the staff at the counter were friendly enough, but . . . - the room was in need of a serious clean, and smelled of tobacco smoke; - there was a loud party in the room next door, and periodically moved into the corridor outside, - I was emailed before arrival and asked what sort of welcome drink I would like. Soda water and a small alcohol-free beer are drinks, but they aren't the white wine I asked for. I don't think I'd stay there again any time soon.

Lots of accommodation options in Darwin this is the worst property to stay at. Our suite was of 1/2 star standard. Cleanliness is not a priority. White marks on bed cover……. Shower may have been cleaned the month before, not between guest checking out & in. The oven was so dirty & greasy, even tea towels had a dirty rancid smell. Mould on walls in laundry cupboard, which gave me Asthma every time I was in suite. The windows / sliding door covered in finger marks & generally dirty, door runners full of dirt, mould & bird crap. Carpet beyond dirty with marks & sticky feeling. I ask manager to come & look at room, but she was too busy & couldn’t leave front desk. I emailed complaints with photos and have had no response, which shows the amount of pride they have in the business. We had pre paid our accommodation so had to stay as would not have been able to get a refund. Any thoughts of booking this property, take my advice DON’T.

Oh dear. Ten years ago friends and I stayed at mantra on the esplanade and loved it. I wish I had believed the recent reviews. Did we get the worst room? Arrived after seven pm to find closed doors and sad sack reception which even the receptionist could not lift. Harbour view?’ What a joke. Blocked by grubby windows. We were told we could park for free opposite the hotel. Only until 8am. Bathroom mirror all marred with black marks. I am finding this so depressing I just want to escape but have already paid for two nights. This is how to ruin a holiday. This is the first review I have ever left but I just have to let unsuspecting potential clients know.

Great location. Friendly staff. Thats where it ends. You enter the building and it is absolutely freezing. Everyone wearing jumpers. Stupid temperature as you walk outside and its a lovely hot balmy 36 degrees. The room was musty with green mould (difficult to avoid due to Darwin climate) on the exterior and interior windows. The furniture was dated and the couch stained. I requested 2 blankets as the one in the room had white questionable stains on it. There was a fire alarm, which my neighbours stated was the 11th one in a couple of weeks, they didnt bother to evacuate as they said it happens all the time. Mainly due to people opening their doors with the aircon left on, which you need to do to warm up. I ordered breakfast in, which was cold, soggy toast and a small piece of avocado with a huge amount of spinich. Not great for $30. Of which after some gentle persuasion they comped. With thanks. Look, i hope they get themselves sorted for the dry season. I have stayed at a number of hotels in Darwin now and am there frequently. I would not stay here again nor recommend for the price.

I have addressed the room issues with the Rooms Division Manager who will be following this up with her team. We are also sourcing quotes for the window washing and will be sharing them with the body corporate of the building. As for the fire alarms, we have been working with the body corporate and its contractor to mitigate them. I had previously stayed here a number of years ago, so I booked this hotel for 8 nights before reading the recent reviews. I was quite alarmed at the many negative reviews and further alarmed with what shears a standard copy and paste reply from the management team. I've since cancelled and booked an alternate hotel on the esplanade.
