Avoid both Mantra properties in Darwin if you can.

Very tired property. Holes in carpet. Worn skirting boards. Shower door sounded like it would shatter every time I moved it. Reported it on Monday and on Thursday morning (just prior to check out on Friday morning I was offered a different room). Carpet in hall no longer attached. On one evening there was a fire alarm. I'd strongly suggest avoiding either Mantra property in Darwin.

Exceptional stay in Darwin

We had a one bedroom apartment which was immaculate in its presentation and had a very comfortable bed, which was great for sleeping. We made good use of the well equipped laundry, kitchenette, large fridge, a walk-in shower in the bathroom. The sofa was comfortable, and to top it off, a large balcony with brilliant sea views. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and ensured a great stay, by easily meeting any reasonable request. Mantra Pandanas is close to the city center, and a supermarket. It has its own restaurant and bar, which we enjoyed on several occasions, with the food and service being top notch.

Disappointing

We stayed here for 10 days during our trip around NT. We chose this property as it advertised - sea views, balcony with outdoor furniture, on site restaurant, swimming pool with sun loungers, proximity to numerous restaurants. Weeeeeeeeeeell yes there was a distant sea view over many roof tops, & outdoor furniture on the balcony once we asked for another chair. The on-site restaurant is a joke, it doesn't seem to open at weekends & the wine choice was limited to 3 options the night we thought we might dine there before going elsewhere. The pool isn't heated and is really really cold, as it doesn't get sufficient sun, plus there is a paucity of deck chairs. On a plus side the staff were welcoming, kind and helpful, & the complex is on the fringe of the CBD & close to a supermarket & restaurants. It's also within walking distance of the Wave Pool which is an amazing feature. And you can feel very secure 24/7 because the fire alarms are super sensitive - they went off 4 times while we were there and it's upsetting running around getting dressed & grabbing your passports to evacuate, only to be told "no action is necessary" after about 10 minutes. All in all a tad disappointing, as I am sure we could have got better value for money elsewhere.

Good location, very comfortable rooms, and bed. No trouble with the Wifi and the view was good. We were in Darwin earlier during the festival and were disappointed with the hotel. The Mantra was a welcome upgrade on our previous experience. We would stay again on a revisit.

Fire alarms 2 out of 6 days

The fire alarms went off both times when I was either sleeping (and dog tired) or straight out of the shower, naked. Extremely disruptive to daily plans and not warranted as both time false alarms. But you don’t know that at the time you’re considering burning alive, wondering why you never made a will, and how sad it will be to never see your family and pets again. The pool is not heated and there are 5 sun lounges for hundreds of guests - pool Hunger games. Decent sun hours are 11-2pm, the rest of the time is shaded. The room was a serviced apartment but wasn’t cleaned once in our 6 day stay. And for $360 a night that’s a rip off. The young female staff on reception were almost useless and mildly surly. It was inconvenient to inconvenience them. The cafe is shut on weekends - go figure. Central location was good for the festival, the room had views, but mostly of building rooftops with the harbour off somewhere not so visible in the middle distance. They lost me at the unprofessional female reception staff. That clinched the deal to not prioritise this hotel next time.
