Very bad and dirty Novotel service

Our stay here was awful unfortunately, dirty bathroom, kitchen area, the windows were smeared, carpet dusty, corners had cobwebs. Bathroom door and sink didn't fit well and a chunk taken out of the glass door with no personal locks, the towel racks were falling off and when sitting on the toilet you get a towel rack blow to the head if moving forward. Also the lack of personal amenities for loving the planet is more likely just cutting costs and no customer service rather than helping the environment- if you did care for the environment you'd defrost the freezers in the fridge- actual fact. The service at the front desk was poor, 1st time staying here, we were not directed well, 2 different lifts from 2 different buildings was illogical and confusing. They spoke extremely quietly and in bad English which made checking in awkward. This was New Year's Eve and returning to the hotel was also awful, vomit covered the walls and floor of the lift, all over my ball gown and sandals, my husband told the front desk but the guy said he knew but was more interested in flirting with the pack of stewardess celebrating with drinks, we literally had to ask the guy to move the ladies and drinks table so we could get to the lift. Next morning at the restaurant for breakfast- again bad customer service was not directed where to go or any manners, food was soggy, tasteless, no actual care taken. On check out, we were never asked about our stay or if we were happy- nothing of what I'd expect from a Novotel . The unexpected car park fee was a surprise at the last minute and unacceptable

I’m currently staying at the Novotel in Preston, Victoria, and I’ve been so impressed by how efficient, warm, and friendly the staff are. They’re constantly on the move, attentive, and always ready to help—often anticipating what you need before you even ask. It’s genuinely been one of my best hotel experiences anywhere. The breakfast at the Stampton is delicious, with a wide variety of buffet options all cooked to perfection, and the staff are always cheerful. Reception is staffed 24 hours a day and somehow they remain just as fresh and helpful at 3am as they are during the day. Security is visible, alert, and regularly patrolling, which is very reassuring. It’s no surprise that airline staff choose to stay here. My wife and I are so glad to be spending New Year’s here.

Mi sugerencia es que si tienen un poco de dinero, busquen otro alojamiento. De hecho, el hotel Rydges que está justo al lado, impresiona mucho mejor, aunque es bastante más caro. Lo lamentable, es que en Melbourne todos los alojamientos son muy caros. Este no es un alojamiento para estudiantes, sino que hay de todo, y algunas personas que llevan viviendo mucho tiempo. La seguridad es mucha, justamente porque parece un lugar bastante inseguro de por sí. El día que llegué, de hecho, subí en el elevador un con untipo que me amenazó de muerte, y parecía estar bajo los efectos del alcohol o la droga. Está ubicado en las afueras de la ciudad, bastante lejos del centro, a unos 30 minutos en taxi y 45 en trolley. Por tanto, nada recomendable si va de turista. Para los estudiantes, en cambio, es de los alojamientos más cercanos a la Universidad La Trobe. No tiene prácticamente amenities, más que una mesa de ping-pong (tenis de mesa) y una de pool, si mal no recuerdo. El restaurant, que funciona en la planta baja, es de una calidad lamentable (al menos en la época en la que yo fui), y caro. las habitaciones estándar son extremadamente pequeñas, algo así como de unos 9 m2. Con decir que si no corres la cortina de la ducha, se te moja la cama y el escritorio... La TV funcionaba muy mal, y la ventana no cerraba del todo bien. Por último la cocina, es compartida, y como las puertas no son herméticas, dado que tienen un pequeño espacio antes del suelo, se entra todo el aroma de quien está utilizando la cocina. Por todo ello, recomiendo que, de ser posible, escojan otro hotel.
