Disappointing welcome

As regular traveler and a Platinum Accor member having certain expectations about Mercure chain I was disappointed at the experience at this hotel. While the room is good and new, the bed is comfortable and the TV is large, the welcoming at the hotel is awful. It is the first time ever that at the Mercure chain in Australia there was no welcome pack provided to a frequent traveller, no welcome letter and no drinking water provided free of charge. Claiming that Australian tap water is good to drink is a treatment worthy of a cheap motel, not 200 plus per night hotel experience claiming to have four stars rating. So far the most disappointing decision to check new local hotel. Staying at Mercure Rouse hill did not make me feel special being their customer in any way however small. As a result I doubt very much that I would ever repeat the experience.

I am glad to read that while you found the rooms good and new, beds comfortable and the TV suited for your needs I am sorry to read that your stay did not meet your expectations. In line with Accor's Planet 21 initiatives, Single Use Plastic Bottles and excess paper use is being progressively phased out of our hotels. We are sorry if this arrangement may not suit you. On top of the potable water already available through the taps in the room, we are installing chiller filter taps in our hotel on all floors so guests may use their own water bottles for drinking water. A welcome pack is provided with your welcome drink, along with the welcome gift of local chocolates on check in - I do apologise if this was missed and will follow up with staff to ensure that this does not re-occur for future member stays. Once again, I thank you for sharing your experience with us and I hope this does not tarnish your future experiences with Accor, and do hope to welcome you back to our hotels some day soon. What a fantastic funky modern Mercure! So convenient with the fiddlers operation right next door. Rooms were spotless, modern, comfortable and quiet. Great large tv and exceptionally professional and friendly staff. Many thanks to Mr Rizza and all the staff in their support during our disaster work in the Hawkesbury region. Highly recommend this Mercure for a relaxing or business stay. Lots of other shops within walkable distance and car parking on-site makes this stay 5 star and a breeze. Mr dean from Melbourne

I expect more from a Mercure!

Nice enough room but could have been cleaner. I found dirty socks behind the curtains when I pulled them back. Room service was not available for breakfast on the second morning. Reception staff were not friendly or welcoming. There was no 'hello' or 'goodbye, have a nice night'. I expect more from a Mercure.

Comfortable Stay

Hotel was quiet and pleasant with good facilities. Disappointed that could not even open balcony door to let in fresh air as it was labeled as being only there for maintenance. Amenities in room no shower cap or face washer but otherwise well appointed and bed very comfortable. We arrived early about midday before room was ready and were directed to use the pool bathroom to freshen up and change. It did contain a shower but there were no towels etc available and we were not offered any towels or toiletries soap etc. I suppose these would have been provided if we asked. The bathroom also did not look like it was serviced there were no hand towels in the dispenser, box with spare box of tissues was on floor - so not up to expectations especially if it is the offering for early arrivals.

Dear TLH1705, Thank you for your review, I am glad you found the hotel quiet and the facilities to your liking. As the hotel does not feature balconies, nor do we promote this as such, the door leading out of your room is not a balcony door. The service egress allows tradespeople easy access to air-conditioning plant and external lighting and fixtures without the need to abseil from the roof, as such it is locked unless required by maintenance. The area you used to freshen up is the pool changing room, and is not usually used as an area for early arrivals. As you had requested an area to freshen up, this was the only private area available. Certainly, we would provide for a towel and toiletries should a guest require. I do apologise for the lack of hand towels, and have noted this to the housekeeping team to increase checks more often and replenish when empty. Should you wish for any additional amenities in room, do not hesitate to contact reception so we may provide anything that may be required. Presently, there is a backlog of toiletries from our suppliers, so I regret to inform you that shower caps are not available. However have been assured by our supplier that this should become available soon. Thank you again for sharing your experience, and we hope your next visit will be as pleasant as the previous one.
